Changing default "screen shot" folder for FSX?

Recommended Posts

Hey All,I was hoping for some help on this! Is there a way to change where you save screenshots when you take them by pressing "V" in flightsim?I'm not a huge fan of them going into my "Pictures" folder. Thanks in advance!

They go into your Pictures folder but in a FSX directory so they are easily separated from the rest of your pictures. I think all screenshot programs use the Pictures folder. If you don't like that, your best bet is to either get a free or commercial version of a screenshot program and use that program instead of FSX. With the commercial/freeware programs you can configure the location of your screenshots.Best regards,Jim

TACThere is a very messy way of changing the location of the FSX screenshots but it involves editing the registry and changing the location of the My Documents\(or Documents depending on OS)'My Pictures' folder (these are called "SHELL" folders: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/move-my-pictures-to-different-location/ orhttp://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/11/25/change-my-documents-folder-default-location-path-in-xp-and-vista/ or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_DocumentsIf you are running WinXP it may be possible via tweakui!I myself wouldn't recommend it unless you are happy editing the registry! :( RegardsPeterH

Thanks for the info Peter, but I'm not sure I have the skill to do that!

Why not save your self some trouble and use a third party screen capture (free) utility such as Screen Hunter - or if you are running Win 7, the great little "snippet" tool. I am not at a Win 7 machine now so cannot verify the utility name but it is something like that.Either allows you to specific the destination folder. You can check out Screen Hunter here:http://wisdom-soft.com/products/screenhunter_free.htm
