windows 7 upgrade VS. full install

Recommended Posts

Microsoft is going to once again sell the windows 7 family packs which give you 3 licenses for home computers. I currently run Vista 64 bit and want to upgrade to windows 7. is there and difference between using the upgrade with a currently loaded FSx setup versus wiping the HD clean and doing the full install. I just did a full install of the OS and ALL my FSX and add-ons 3 weeks ago.

Upgrades usually end up causing a problem or two somewhere along the line.Backup, format and do a clean install every time. You'll not regret it.IAN

I don't think there is much of a difference if any.I went down the route of upgrade. Although was told that this is buggy. I have win7 64bit and have had fsx on it for a good while pretty well as soon as win7 came out. It for me has been the most stable os I've had and it is great on performance. Once fsx is set up and tweaked as necessary it runs super smooth. I have my dual core processor clocked to 4ghz with 4gb of ram and fsx loaded on to a dedicated 1tb drive and win7 on a dedicated 320gb drive, xfxforce gtx 9800+ provides the graphics So I can definitely give a thumbs up to the upgrade option

i think i am going to do the upgrade version as well. i made a back up copy of my FSX HD just in case something goes wrong but looks like this will be the easiest way to upgrade all my computers.
