How recent are the MegaScenery satellite images?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me the approximate date of the MegaScenery Los Angeles & San Diego satellite images? The reason that I ask is that the LA area is so dynamic that I'd like to ensure that the images are fairly recent before I purchase. If the dates are unknown, maybe one of you sharp-eyed VFR pilots could estimate the date by examining the scenery for recent landmarks. As usual, thanks for your replies,Robert

I found the following three comments regarding the age of the satellite images in the MegaScenery Web site's forum. ---------------------------------------------------1) The satellite image is not just one image but a mosaic of a number of smaller images (scenes) that have been patched together. While we don't know the exact dates of each scene they are very recent - within 2 years or less.2) Well, most of it had to be from Jan-April because of the green hills and mountains, and was probably about 2000 or 2001 because the 210 Fwy is clearly in the early stages of construction. (Its finished now) 3) Yes but the 210 Freeway is still not complete. It still doesn't connect to Highway 30 in San Bernardino yet. It currently ends in Fontana. I'll have to look at where it ends. Will be sweet once it connects all the way. Pretty cool scenery eh?-------------------------------------------------------Any other guesses?Robert
