Can't Start Squawkbox from FS9 Menu

Recommended Posts

Hi,I wondered if anyone has experienced the above problem and found a solution to it? I run FS9 in full screen mode (windowed mode for some reason doesn't agree with my set-up) and when I press ALT to access the menu and go to Modules, Squawkbox option is not there. Sometimes when I restart FS it appears again in the menu but recently I can't get it at all despite reinstalling Squawkbox.I tried the Squawkbox forum but after being asked 1001 increasingly superfluous questions culminating in things like "What colour socks are you wearing when the problem occurs" and "have you tried growing a moustache to see if that resolves it?" I concluded that nobody really knew the answer.Ok they didn't really suggest growing a moustache but you get the drift.Any suggestions appreciated.Cheers, Dave

Dave,Has SB ever worked for you in the past? What is your OS and is it on a new PC?Do all your testing (not just this SB issue) in 2D cockpit, windowed (not full screen) mode. What are the results?

Hi vonmar,Sorry forgot to give details - I am running FS9.1 on XP.Yep it's worked in the past, which is why it's confusing me. It used to just happen now and again but I just can't get squawkbox in the menu at all now. Full screen or windowed mode, the available menu options remain the same. Haven't installed anything recently which might cause this either.Cheers,Dave

I never used to have a squawbox issue until last year and still do. What i found out is that i need to turn off the firewall get the squawkbox going then put the firewall back on again.I never had to do that before but at least it works.SB forum was a waste of time.Nebojsa

I always leave my firewall and virus checker on and never had had a problem.

Dave,"I run FS9 in full screen mode (windowed mode for some reason doesn't agree with my set-up)"** Do all your testing (not just this SB issue) in 2D cockpit, windowed (not full screen) mode.** If you cannot use this mode you should reinstall FS9 first."vonmar I explained above I have tried reinstalling."** Yes, I understand that ..** But, what I mentioned is what I would do .. reinstall again with the virus (I just added this) checker off.I assumed your OS is not a new one and your PC is error free ... like no Win 7 64 bit stuff going on with a brand new box!

i would also look into the anti virus thing, I had a few problems with SB and my anti virus program, Especially when SB was trying to display other aircraft. So i would say look into your AV first and go from there.
