August 23, 200322 yr I think someone posted about this - did a search, but could not find it.I'm in the Cessna 182. On an ILS approach to KLAX. All works as it did in FS2K2. However, as soon as I disengage the autopilot, the plane jerks violently upward. Why does this happen?JerryG
August 23, 200322 yr In addition to Denis' suggested problem, you might want to check the position of your joystick prior to disengaging AP. If the joystick is not centered, you may well be seeing its immediate impact on A/C attitude without AP.
August 23, 200322 yr Hi Jerry,Another thing to consider is the elevator trim. Generally what I try and do is disengage the A/P when I'm in level flight on the approach path which minimizes the nose up tendancy.Mikehttp://www.members.shaw.ca/madamo/boeingsig.jpg
August 24, 200322 yr Author Tom, Mike - thanks for your suggestions.I guess I don't recall needing to do this in FS2K2.Anyway, I simply toggles the AP's ALT button a couple timesand noticed that my trim must have been significantly adjustedby the AP. I was abble to re-esablish the correct elevator trim(after the ALT toggle) and when finally disengaging the AP(when close enough to the runway on my ILS approach) thatI no longer get the violent upward jerking of the nose.Something that I should be doing all along, but again, Idon't remember FS2K2 manipulating the pitch/trim to thishigh of a degree ...JerryG
