Do they have charts for other parts of the world? South America, Asia, Africa?Maybe that's why...

There are charts available for most of the world. You get a utility that shows the position of your airplane superimposed on the chart while you are flying. And many pilots prefer Jeppesen over NOS charts.Honestly, I don't think it's worth the price they charge for them but apparently I had a hole burning in my pocket. You end up dropping $200 if you want full world coverage. Of course, real pilots drop WAY more that that; $900 up front and hundreds per year for updates.

Jepp charts, whether sim or real world, are far superior in the information delivered once you know what all the information is. Plus, they are easier to read, easier to learn, and easier to decipher. Yes, more expensive, but as an IFR rated pilot, it is a far superior systemP4 2.81024 DDRAM800 Bus36 gig SATA hardrive80 gig harddriveATI Radeon 9700 ProCH yoke/pedalsElite Multi quadrant19" inch monitor-Soundblaster PCI 512Win XPInstrument rated ASEL -287 hoursAOPALawyerPilots Bar Association"Men without dreams are never free, twas thus this way and thus will ever be."

However-some ifr rated pilots actually prefer Nos (I happen to be one that does...). :-)The real advantage I can see-is now with fs9-not only can you have the chart, approach or enroute, displayed as you fly but can see your track on it.I had Jepp's instrument flight trainer-I never liked the sim part but the chart part-ability to see your track as you fly on actual plates was incredible. It sounds like simcharts 3.0 now allow this-and I will be rushing to get them.instrument, commercial, 670 hourshttp://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/Geofdog2.jpg

However if I were flying IFR right now in real world and were using aircraft equipped with the Garmin 430/530 I would have probably opted for the NOS charts. Why ? All the "horizontal" approach information is in the Garmin units now and just for the vertical info the NOS would probably suffice. They also cost less and another bonus using the NOS charts you don't have to spend the whole afternoon updating your charts every month...It is time to put all the approach info in the electronic boxes and do away with this silly paper stuff for good ....Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg

Yes!Full chart in FS2004:http://brianc.vip.warped.com/simcharts1.jpgDiagram-only view in FS2004:http://brianc.vip.warped.com/simcharts2.jpgThere are also airport diagrams but the 2.0 charts don't line up well with your position in 2004. Still, the charts are useful. In FS2002 the airport diagrams line up very close:http://brianc.vip.warped.com/simcharts3.jpg

MyAirplane.com is working on a FS model that will have super high quality Sectionals interfaced with FS2004.. Not sure if there will be a charge yet or not.
