Scenery Restrictions in FS2004

Recommended Posts

Guest Heather 636

In FS2002, you were limited to 315 (or somewhere close to that) Add-On scenery entries; any beyond that being ignored. Many times to overcome this, I would create my scenery folders based upon the author's name (to avoid conflicting texture files) and place all scenery by that author in a single add-on folder. Before I start installing a lot of scenery in FS2004, I would find it helpful to know in advance if CoF has these same restrictions?Thank youHeather Sherman

Heather,I'm still a long way from having over 315 sceneries installed in FS9, so I don't know if there is any change in that regard. But I had almost 400 sceneries installed in FS2002, and I never found one missing. I think the restriction is only in what the FS2002 scenery *menu* can show and handle (my sceneries that exceeded the limit were not 'visible' in the menu list). But if the scenery is declared properly in 'scenery.cfg', it will appear in the sim, no matter what the total number of sceneries is. Because of the limitations of the scenery menu in FS2002 I had to manually 'declare' any new scenery above #315 in the scenery.cfg file, or use FS Navigator (it's FSNavDBC module can install sceneries too and doesn't have the 315 entries limitation).Paul

Heather, check out FS Scenery Manager. It provides an elegant way to handle large scenery collections and - at the same time - avoid any limitations imposed by FS.

Thanks. yes, I have thought of using that program. It is payware isn't it? Do you know how much? I'm on a severely limited income.Cheers!Heather
