Recommended Posts

Hi Tom, I am wondering if there were scattered showers which were not reported in your area and that is why they were not visable in ActiveSky. ActiveSky receives actual weather from reporting stations all over the world and relies on it to depict the weather in real time. I have taken a look at my local area and it looks like ActiveSky is downloading the correct weather for Vancouver. The only difference I see is what is being reported out of FlightAware.ActiveSky METAR CYVR 291600Z 30013KT 10SM FEW006 13/12 A3018NAVCANADA METAR CYVR 291600Z 30013KT 30SM FEW006 13/12 A3017liveatc.net METAR CYVR CYVR 291600Z 30013KT 30SM FEW006 13/12 A3017 RMK SC2 SLP218Flight Aware:Observation FlightRules Wind Cloud Cover Visibility Temp Dew Point Rel.Humid. The METAR report is as follows EGBE 291620Z 21504KT 4SM RA FEW016 SCT022 14/13 A2991RA means rain. In the future press the Wx Config tab, at the bottom you can add whatever precip you would like. That tab can be used to edit current weather as it is being reported.Good luck. Edited by maxam66

Active Sky can only read the metar and send that data to FS - it doesn't create or adjust the weather. So if you are not seeing what is outside your window, your local station isn't reporting the metar correctly.

I'd dare say that weather in England occurs differently from how it occurs in Florida, USA. Here though, the weather at the reporting station (the airport) can be sunny and it can be raining at my house a few miles away. Also, the weather can change between reporting times.

hi,There is one thing that I don't like, and it is the same with REX: sometimes you see clouds litterally resting on the ground, totally unrealistic. There must me a technical problem to avoid that. Otherwise, those add ons are great looking.
Are you using the latest bild of ASE or Active Sky v6?ASv6 doesn't correct for an error in FSX which will show clouds abover sea level rather than above ground level. It has been fixed in ASE.Vic

Pretend that it is fog, makes approaches interesting when your under IFR, make sure you plan an alternate airport correctly.
