Garmin Interactive Simulator

Recommended Posts

There is a Garmin interactive simulator at www.garmin.com under Aviation then Products. It's in the top right hand section. It's 13590KB in size and downloads real slow even with DSL. You can pracice setting up the GPS on your own time. It is pretty good. There are five plans you can fly in addition to making your own plan. I have not figured it all out yet. Too bad you can't use it with FS2004. Hope you enjoy it. Regards, Bob.

You can use it with FS2004 but you'll need the Reality XP gauge :-) . See http://www.reality-xp.com/ . This is absolutely the best GPS ever for MSFS.Doug

Yes you can now have this 100% realistic simulation of the Garmin GNS530 in Flight Simulator! It works in FS2002 and FS2004 thanks to Reality XP Flight Line 530XP. Altough there is a freeware GNS available as well which makes the Garmin Trainer program run in a popup window while flying FS, this is not a comparable solution. There is no point to run the Trainer in a separate window to make it merely a Garmin moving map: interfacing a GPS to Flight Simulator requires also that the default navigation cues (CDI, EHSI, RMI, FLAGS...) in any default aircraft gauge is also interfaced, as well as the GPSS (Autopilot / GPS link)is accurate in respect to the real Garmin specifications. Considering this, the freeware program makes it run, the Reality XP makes it a real Navigation Device for FS2002/FS2004 which can completely replace the default GPS, or even work together with the default one. Here are some reasons why:- the Reality XP 530XP is a standard FS gauge which can be easily set to any panel.- it accurately differentiate TRK and HDG- it drives any default VOR/EHSI gauge CDI (plus manages autocourse mode).- the driven CDI deviation is based on the actual flight phase (enroute / terminal / user preferences...)- it drives any default EFIS display with navigation information (next waypoint ICAO, distance ...)- it drives any default VOR/EHSI/EFIS flags (TO/FR, NAV FLAG...)- it offers cross GPS functions with the Apollo and now with the standard FS GPS500!- it offers an accurate to Garmin specs GPSS (autopilot / GPS link) in both HDG and NAV mode which takes in account cross wind component, turn anticipates as well.- it "flies" DME ARCS, approaches... whatever the active route is (Direct TO, Flight plan...)- it has a full working TCAS system per the industry specifications (TCASII v6.x)- is the reference simulation for many proud Flight1 Meridian (5 stars at avsim and other reviews) customers and Reality XP customers.- is the sole GPS which exports it current active route to a file, or EFIS displays (such as the Reality XP Jet Line Avionics), or to the default FS GPS500.- it is payware and supported, with a continuous list of new enhancements releases. This is also what differenciates Reality XP which keeps enhancing its solutions to protect its customers investments for nearly 1 year and a half with succesive upgrade enhancements. Here is a sample from the Reality XP website:Flight Line 530XP v2.0 now offers cross-GPS functions with the default Flight Simulator 2004 GPS500. With a redesigned GPSS system, you can export the active route from the 530XP to the GPS500, save it to a flight plan file, and switch from one device or the other as the primary GPS navigation source whenever you want and in real time, while keeping your autopilot in NAV mode!in addition, with its newly designed graphic engine and Garmin Trainer engine, the new Flight Line 530XP does not have any performance impact on most systems! (as compared to previous versions)With the addition of interactive virtual cockpits, you can now control all the 530XP functions directly from the 3D view!Hope this helps!
