I dont own ORBX products, but this blew me away!

Recommended Posts

I admit, I have been a laggard in buying ORBX products for a variety of reasons, although none of those reasons are because I dont like thier products. Mainly the reasons are based upon the fact that 99% of the time I fly airliners in FSX, mostly in the US and often to areas that are inhabited by an addon airport, like those of FSDT. I'm not sure that style of flying is really suited to me owning ORBX products since the only US area they cover is the PNW and they said a while back they weren't going to be doing KSEA for sometime.Ok, that being said, I was just browsing their forum, which I do from time to time to see if they have announced anything for KSEA or KPDX, when I happened to come across this preview video for Izzy's Farm, which I am guessing is another small addon airport for the PNW area. I almost didn't watch the video, but am glad I did as it was probably one of the best, if not the best FSX video I have ever seen that showcased a new product.I am now considering possibly purchasing the A2A Cub and taking a plunge into the world of ORBX and the PNW area, and parking my beloved PMDG 747, JS41, and LDS 767 for a period of time and actually exploring. Its a funny thing that in the real world all I am qualified to fly are small Cessna's 150/152, Piper Tomahawk, etc., but for some reason in the sim I have no interest in flying GA and have mostly been drawn to airliners. I guess its mostly because I will never fly one in real life, and even though some consider it boring, I get a lot of satisfaction from flying one of those complex beasts from a cold and dark state, to another city, state, or country, and successfully putting it down by hand and taxing up to the gate. This is the video that may have finally gotten me to take the plunge. Have a look for yourself and tell me if it's not one of the coolest FSX videos you have seen in a while, if ever.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOkVIaCb_Fg&feature=player_embeddedBTW, can someone who is familiar with ORBX products tell me if the helo that is carrying the log is an AI scenery feature or an addon chopper that has that capability.Regards

Great Video - same as all of the Orbx products. You'll love them!I also think it is a great idea that they quoted the MS Flight trailer in this video.Wolfgang

Jean-Paul is absolutely right, it's the EH101 from the Acceleration pack, which I used in this sequence. To make it able to carry the log, I had to define a mini-mission, which I connected with a saved flight situation. I'm no expert in creating missions, but if I understood it right, you can carry things with almost every helicopter you like. If you need details, I can tell you more tonight, when I'm back at my home pc again.Btw. when you like the above video, you might like my previous clip too ;)

Regards, Andreas

I have a bunch of the Australian Orbx stuff, and, like you, prefer the heavies. One day I'll get tired of them and start exploring Blue and the various airports I have, but so far not. They do make incredible stuff, though.

I was pretty much an FS9 only Mega airport to Mega airport simmer. The videos and screenshots of Orbx PNW really caught my eye. It caused me to dust off my copy of FSX gold and try and run it. I first bought the A2A cub and now have a real collection of GA that I fly around all these small airports in the PNW. All my Mega airports are not loaded even FS9 is uninstalled. A long flight for me might be to take the A2A B-17 up to Tongass Fjords and back. The scenery has changed how I sim and this month a new area Pacific Fjords is going to be released and before Christmas Northern Rocky Mountains. I haven't even finished exploring all of PNW.I recomend this scenery to anyone it is amazing.

It's a great time for our hobby. Almost ever week there seems to be someone coming out with something that knocks your socks off. Of course half the time its coming from Orbx. But Microsoft is going to have to do something really revolutionary with Flight to make me want to buy it. The longer they take to release it the bigger the hurdle will be given how rapidly the developers continue to be able to push the capabilities of FSX.

I fly mosty instrument procedures(practice for my Instrument Rating), and have recently started doing it over Orbx Pac NW scenery, and it's fantastic, it looks so real. esp with active sky weather. You may have to lower your settings a bit(I did), there's alot of autogen.

Highly addictive stuff there. We have to leave the "first" for excellent bush flying addons in FSX to the famous (and still well done) Tongass Fjords but OrbX really followed the line and expanded it to an absolute immersible level in FSX, especially after the Pacific Northwest release (the Australian titles are fine too).Even the guys flying the heavies most of the time get some strong impulse to grab a GA aircraft and start right away on some remote strip. We have to admit that the videos are among the best in commercial presentation but after having bought some of their products, I can't tell anything about being dazzled by them (which sometimes happend at products from other devs with good marketing skills). Finest quality around, great value, great support, really nice forum people and a superb response to wishes and complains.Who knows, maybe the OrbX guys are already involved in some "Flight" basics. At least, I wish they were.

Hi!As many others I also flied and fly now heavies and airliners. Last year I came to Tongas, then PNG bush and finally FTX PNW. With panoramics (3 screens and Wideview) this is so stunning experience that sometimes I forget to fly!!If you like to carry passengers then twinotter and FsPassengers will give you many interesting destinations in PNW.Andreas's videos is as alaways an art in itself, he might use FsRecorder play as AI feature intensively. What FS would be if FTX handles the next version? (just kidding..)Cheers and welcome to low flying...RV
