Which of these extreme altitude planes to pick

Featured Replies

I have got curious and interested in trying out one of the following extreme altitude (and speed) planes in FSX. I wan't to pick the one with best realism and deepest system simulation. Which one to pick? I might also phrase the question like this. Which one has the best potential for realism in FSX?1) SR-71 Alphasim2) Bell X-1 SG Xtreme Prototypes3) X-15 /which variant) Xtreme Prototypes

Realism? The SR-71 flies around the world. And can take off from a runway and can refuel enroute. The other are "test" aircraft and only fly around the test area and need a launch vehicle to take them up to 30,000'.The are also rocket aircraft. Can't get fuel just anywhere. If the 71 is well modeled, it can be a 'bear' to fly, I gather - has to be 'by the book'.Shouldn't be much of a decision...Loyd

Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

From what I understand the Bell X-1 can also take off from a runway. I think I see two disadvantages with the SR-71 compared to X-11) SR-71 is for both FS2004 and FSX while X-1 is FSX only i.e expect X-1 to perform better than Sr-71 in FSX2) Higher price for SR-71 compared to X-1
