The case of the invisible Fuel Tanks.

Featured Replies

Has anyone seen this.If I line up for takeoff on Runway 34R at Seatac, with Max Autogen and Scenery Complexity during "day time". I notice a very large bank of Fuel Tanks at my 1:00 or 2:00 position. They are VERY noticable. Now I shift to "dawn". Tanks. GONE Vanished!!!! You can see some graphic fragments, but the tanks are gone. Or rather, translucent, because I can now see "through" them. Same thing happens At Night and Dusk.If I shift back to "Day", the tanks reappear.I have tried turning off all my filtering, reinstalling FS9 and going back to the original textures. Nothing helps. Still missing Has anyone else noticed this: I call it the "cloaking device" syndrome because when the textures reload during time changes, the tanks definitely are drawn, but their textures are just not applied. I even "ran" into one and got a crash....Anyone else seeing this? Thanks. Is this a flaw with those tanks. Has anyone else noticed "vanishing" tanks?

The tanks come from the elevator01.bmp in the SceneryGenerictexture folder. The lightmap .bmp used at dawn/dusk doesn't include the tank.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/36833.jpgKurt M

I was just about to post that.

I noticed the same thing at KITH (Ithica NY) but did not connect it with time-of-day. Now that I think about it the tanks disappeared at dusk. Thanks for the info, I'll quit chasing that bug. R-

Well now that it is confirmed, I can stash it back into the little bug list I have compiled.I don't really mind the bug that much, but I would have been obsessing about it if I thought it was something I had done. Now that I know it's Microsofts problem, I can simply forget about it.
