A couple of days ago Pete Dowson sent me a test version of the next iteration of FSUIPC. Life's repsonsibilities kept me from flying with it until a few hours ago, but I can say that it has made a huge difference with regard to stutters on my system. An explanation of what he has done can be found here:http://www.forums.simflight.com/viewtopic....97c633e2934ea2eAs so many of us have said many times over the years, "A huge Thank You, Pete".

I've been doing some additional testing with 3.08, and it has proven to be very smooth on my machine. Definately worth the time to upgrade from previous versions. Cured my stuttering problems when using FSUIPC.http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html

Three flights yesterday with FSUIPC 3.08 (Registered) - two with FSMeteo and one with FS9 downloaded realworld weather. Using FSMeteo I still get the stuttering when the weather updates (barely perceptable approximately 1 second each). With FS downloaded weather much less stuttering -- but the weather is only updated every fifteen minutes versus every 6 with FSMeteo. The stuttering is only a minor annoyance now and after flying one FS2002 flight last week and seeing the difference in weather and everything else in FS9, it's only a matter of time before FS2002 leaves my PC for good.

I'm just curious why people like to update the weather continuously. Sounds like a wierd question after all these years, but I just don't see any advantages to it. If you download a set of static weather for the world, the weather will change as you fly through different areas, which is the purpose, isn't it? Even if you update every six minutes or fifteen minutes, it would still be the same as if you downloaded the static weather since weather is normally only updated by weather stations once every hour. So what is the point of updating to the same data you've just updated already during the hour? I can see people updating weather shortly after each hour, but any more than that seems unnecessary since you're not getting anything new.

Hi Steve,Pete added a new feature to 3.08 so that we may tweak the dll to our preference. In the FSUIPC.ini (in the "Modules" folder of FS9) is the line "WeatherReadInterval". By default this is set to 2. This makes the weather reads operate on every 4th frame. Lowering this to 0 will make the reads occur EVERY frame (this is when I saw the stutters return while testing 3.074... the Beta for 3.08). Try setting this line to 4 (causing the reads to occur every 16 frames). Setting it to 6 will make the reads happen every 64 frames.Like you, I still get a stutter (more like a pause) when FSMeteo updates... no matter what I try within FSUIPC. The pause is much less noticeable when I use FS Jepp weather. Either way, FSUIPC is now more configurable for each of us.This is all very daunting for Pete and the add-on weather folks. They are still trying to figure how MS made the reads work within FS9... it's different from the previous sim.Hope this helps,

Thanks, Greg. I'll try that. The flights yesterday with FSMeteo were very good and my last one, MIA-IAH, was really neat. Right at sundown and the clouds over the Texas coast were beautiful. I even have the water effects fully right and the sun glare is super! The weather in FS9 is better than anything I have ever seen in FS2002. Sold me on FS9. Probably won't fly FS2002 any more except for where I use the 757 or 767 (767PIC panel, you know).
