Monitor color calibration

Featured Replies

I know there have been some discussions about what the right settings are for a monitor. Some even claim to see weird color patterns when looking at FS screenshots because their monitors are calibrated for photography or other applications. I set out to find software to see if it really made a difference.I came across Monitor Calibration Wizard, one of the only freeware titles out there. I downloaded and gave it a shot. It is a very simple process, only requiring a little squinting to blur your vision to get colors inside and outside of a box to match. Three pages, for each of the RGB colors. It saves a color profile that can be loaded automatically each time Windows starts.I have to say that the FS9 environment looks a bit more realistic, and I also have to admit that some photos from a digital camera need some retouching, since I adjusted the colors and balances with an uncalibrated monitor. Its worth a shot, as reverting back to your default setting is only a click away.http://www.hex2bit.com/products/product_mcw.asp

I got my monitor perfectly calibrated with a professional color match thing. My uncle has one for his computer and let me use it one day. Its almost like that program except its all automatic, it sticks on your monitor. After calibration, I had the same problem as you - All my photos I touched up inside Photoshop had to be retouched LOL. Good thing it was something minor like a very slight blue cast (I read up on it and my digital camera really does have a very slight blue cast on pictures LOL). Didnt really notice much within FS, since my monitor was nearly spot on when it was uncalibrated LOL.
