October 26, 201015 yr ***SPOILER ALERT***Hey guys, I hope PMDG doesn't mind this, but I want to explain what and why seeing wing tips, wings, and engines entails.First of all, this may be seen as a spoiler to some so if you don't want to read the text below then do not show it and the pictures will just appear to look as though I'm posting shots of my experiences before the highmemfix :( Most FSX planes (default or payware) do not have the outside modeled for the times that you are in the VC. It is an illusion and if anything, you are allowed to see what the developers decide to let you, but normally at a cost. This is even done with the default C172. The reasoning is you don't need to see it and everyone is more normally concerned with FPS than anything. I agree with the above that if anything, it would be cool to have as an option,,, very cool actually, but there's a lot of work I imagine to make that happen. Here are some pictures I took from outside the C172, JS41 and MD11 but while technically in VC mode. Notice the engines are modeled for this view in the JS41 so people can see them. Perhaps this is also why we see so many complaints about FPS and something I'm sure PMDG are weighing their decisions on with all the wing tip posts. Again, having it as an option would be pretty sweet as well as maybe the same for the JS41 in the soon to be released SP2? :) Click the images for larger pix:I just hate to be the guy to say things like, there's no santa etc... October 26, 201015 yr i hope that this plane does not get released tonight! hahaha, joystick cable broke so waiting for it to come from hong kong.. almost 2 weeks later still no sight of it.. would be devastated if 737 came out and had no joystick... But that was back when I only flew default aircraft (pfft, default), but at least back then I had a 737-800 to fly But then I became an add-on snob. No I cannot fly an aircraft unless I paid money for it (shows how smart I am, pay for the sim and planes a la carte). Now, I cant do anything default. Add on textures, add on clouds, add on roads, add on traffic, add on planes, add on flight planners, add on weather, add on ATC, add on log book, add on load managers, add on fuel, even when I fly into default airports, I first download a new AFCAD off of AVSIM. But I guess my point in all the rambling, is that is my joystick broke just before the NGX is released, I would still find some way somehow to fly that thing. Plus it probably isnt that big a deal to being with. I plan on spending a lot of time on the ground at Boeing Field learning my way around the flight deck. October 26, 201015 yr Hm... about those wingtips, if the team is so concerned about the FPS why not having option to turn them on/off (something as the J41 has).Look at the supplied cockpit view picture - showing the leading edge covered with ice. Interesting feature of the 737NG ice protection system, which simply does not reach the outboard slats...The technology to have this implemented is already developed (J41), so I really think we should have it in the NGX as well. Pls P.S. the picture is property of the VERY interesting site http://www.b737.org.uk/index.htm ... I would recommend all dedicated future NGX drivers to go through it, you might find tons of interesting stuff in there... Regards, Martin Martinov / VATSIM 1207931
October 26, 201015 yr Author Commercial Member Ahm. Gotta say I wasn't aware of a load alleviation sys on the 37. I know the 'buses have such an LAF, but as far as Boeing goes it's news to me. If you have any additional info, docs or manuals or just explanations of the sys, please don't hesitate to post em here.Thanks.Gents-This post brings a few things to mind that I should inject to the conversation (that aren't directly related to this post- but hey- it made me think of them...):1) Do not post any material in this forum that is subject to copyright by Boeing. If you are posting images or text from a Boeing manual that you bought, it is owned by Boeing. I don't care what airline logo is on it- that information is owned by Boeing. We have some friends at Boeing who watch this forum- and out of respect to those fine folks for the help they are providing us- we will instantly and fatally ban anyone who posts something here that belongs to them...2) Thank you for observing #1 above.3) We have (last time I checked) well more than 35,000 pages of documentation on this airplane. Believe it or not, we are using almost every single one of them. These pages include acceptance checks, trouble shooting guides, technical specifications, engineering documents, enough diagrams to wallpaper the inside of the US Capital Dome, and of course the (usually thin on information) flight manuals... So please lets not play "I know something about the airplane- lets see if I'm smarter than the development team." You'll lose- we promise you. :( 4) Yes- you read the above paragraph correctly- the flight manuals are the least technical of all the documents you can use to develop an airplane... That should give you an idea of the level of depth we are headed. 5) Since we are talking about the spoiler system... that system is 1300 lines of code. It works just like the airplane. :( Robert S. October 26, 201015 yr Just say: Wow!But.. are you sure this one will perform even better than the Jetstream (FPS I mean) as it was stated some time ago? Regards. Matthias Hanel MilViz Beta Team

October 26, 201015 yr HAHA after reading RSR words above I respect PMDG even more hahaha . Especially the "you wont win" part. But yeah its true people ask all these technical questions and some to me just seem veracious. Any way I hope people try and stop asking questions in relation to this plane until release because really all the nuts come from their updates. (which I learned)Now I wont get on my knees and bathe PMDG in positive remarks. Simply because I rekon PMDG knows that I can't even fathem the accuracy they're doing. And that should be a pat on their own shoulders.

At the end of the day we take comfort in the fact that at least TWO people will know it was done correctly. (That would be Dr. Vaos and me- for those who weren't paying attention. :( )Ryan has been imploring me to keep a list of these little details so that we can show them to you at different times in order to demonstrate the depth of simulation in the airplane. This might be one of those times when we actually listen to him. :( Robert S.
