In my constant efforts to shut down FSPLANET.com, I have devised a plane that should help to persuade several of his advertisers to discontinue their support.I want everyone who get's a chance to read this post to visit the two mega-sites, AVSIM and Flightsim. Get a close look at all the new files. Then go to FSPLANET.com and see if any of them have been uploaded. Also, if you yourself have created a file and he's uploaded it. What I want you to do is send me an e-mail with the file name(s) and the date it/they were posted to FSPLANET.com. With this information I will be able to complete a detailed list of poached files and send them off to his advertisers. I believe that once they have this information, they will shut-up and listen.And.... I would especially like to get this list to VOLFTP, his file host. Once they have this list, they can remove those files from the database.My e-mail address is daveandy1@adelphia.netPlease be curteous and use my information for the stated purpose. HiI also tried to get the sponsore od FSPlanet to stop advertising on his site. I e-mailed all the sponsors and VOLFTP..the only one who replied was eDimensional and they asked for proof that he's stealing files. I gathered names and file names of stolen files and e-mailed them but they have not responded...I guess that my respect for eDimensional has dropped to zero since they still continue to sponsor after i showed them evidence. I hope that the people who sent me their evidence will send you the evidence as well...maybe if more of us e-mail the host and the sponsors then they will listen.Good LuckMike

Dave,Good luck on your one man crusade to get someone's website closed down.I, for one, would have nothing to do with it. You may have tried this already, but if you have a disagreement with the host of this site, perhaps you should take a slightly less hostile approach? Laying someone's site under seige is a pretty nasty thing to do. Do you realise this... or are you purposely being malicious?I understand that the download section of this particular site has files that were uploaded without the originator's permission? That is a pretty underhand thing to do, I agree. I would never support a site like that. But also, I would never support making an attack on it, either.The cleanest way to resolve a matter like this is to take legal action. Have you considered this? Have the owners of all the unpermitted uploads considered this? Would it be possible to take joint action and share the cost? For sure, my friend, attempting to lay a site under seige is unlikely to work. People move on... and changing a website residence and identity is alot easier than something like a physical accommadation. Advertisers are unlikely to resond to you if the site is taking hits. We all need to make a living. It sounds a bit harsh, but it's true. The question of posession is a complicated one. Although I haven't checked, I expect there's some text somewhere that states that if files are uploaded, the website management have rights of posession. That's not to say they OWN the files, but they have certain rights of posession. I'm no lawyer, but it's a sensible thing for FTP site management to do, IMHO. A number of upload sites have this clause. Yahoo, Hotmail, etc etc. If you upload something, you give them posession. I don't know what AVSim's position is on this, but I expect AVSim protects the OWNER or originator of the files alot more. Goo on you, AVSIM! :)There is another question of posession too. It is good marketing to make your visitors feel like they have a certain affinity with your site, your product or your premises. Most commercial enterprises want their customers to FEEL like they have some ownership. It is so common now, that people take it for granted... it's not even noticed. And when there is a disagreement, it seems that people think they really do have this ownership. And sometimes people argue that they have a right to control things that they actually don't.Oh dear... I could go on and on about this... I should stop. I don't wanna sound like I support this site... I really don't. At all. And nor do I want to put your viewpoint and your actions down. But as a person who works in digital media, I feel that people sometimes think they have a right to try and destroy ones work by copying it and then butchering it to their own needs, pirating it or somehow have the right to control or make crucial decisions over content. The owner of the website seems to think they have this right to other people's work... and in turn, it seems that you feel like you have the right to respond in a likewise manner. NB not in likewise action, but in a likewise manner. You have to realise that a website is someone's work and effort, just like the way in which the freeware developers of the great addons we try our best never to take for granted! If you attack it, it will be defended. I don't think a hostile attack will acheive the results you think they will. If I were in business and a competitor of the site in question, and I felt that it was stealing and otherwise making illegal moves, I would employ a solicitor and have them investigated. I certainly wouldn't attack it... that would be wholly unprofessional and would place me on the same level as them.Anyway... it's not really my business, I suppose. I would probably agree with you on that - I think the goal should be to get him (Ferdy) to remove ALL files that he does not have confirmed permission to have on his site.I feel that is a more supportable aim than to shut the site down. I would not support a campaign to shut down the site. The recent Argentinian site - yes because they are 100% pirates, FSPlanet is not in their league !!!

yes Baldrick, it's a cunning plan :-wavebut as all such plans, it won't work. Ariane/PT didn't get stopped until someone took them to court for the X-th time and got them declared bankrupt (and even that only slowed them down).It's good to keep the flames going, but I doubt it will do much (and online petitions are a complete waste of time).

The online petition was not my idea, some dude I know set it up. Whatever, I agree that it won't do anything. I've gone to my local courthouse, it's a superior court. I've looked at all the laws, I've done everything. I've got a little something up my sleeve over here, and when I put it into action, the whole fs community will know. hint, it involves the termination of fsplanet.com. and, if the other trick i have up there works, ferdy will be arrested as well. but, as it stands, i don't even know if it will work, or if it's even worth it, but i do have my lawyer's researching this stuff for me. i'm just dreaming about what i can do to this guy. and to answer that dude's question.... yes i am being mailcious on purpose. i was treated less than fairly by ferdy, so i'm going to treat him like a roach and stomp on his little pathetic self.

Yeah, you have all my support. Freddy has been treating the FS community unfairly so he deserves whatever is coming to him. I am glad that you are in a position to more then I could. He he he he I myself would like to thank Dave for his effort this far to continue the quest to teach Ferdy not to poach people's file.Thanks a lot and I hope that lots of Freeware authors will acknowledge this action, I have just visited the site and really tired of seeing people's file poached day by day and you can't hardly download anything from the site without being the First Class members.FSPlanet whole idea from the start to pick the best freewsre files, I was admiring FSPlanet and wish that one day my file would be there and get rated, least I know there is someone respecting my work and give sort of reward that makes me feel proud of my own work.Until they introduce First Class member I still can download from there, but months by months downloading becomes very slow and now I can't hardly download anything from there.I am getting ###### by this and know I disrespect FSPlanet and I hope that with co-operation of Freeware authors and developers can bring an end to this site and can bring freeware to the same definition of something which is free.
