MD-11 landing and taxi lights are displaced

Recommended Posts

Hello,I have a small problem with the placement of the landing and taxi lights of my MD-11.Both are displayed some meters before the plane. I suggest that an add-on has changed something (maybe XGraphics) in the aircraft .cfg.I didn't have the problem with other planes like the PMDG 747.I hope that someone has an idea to fix that :-)I'm using FSX SP2 (no Acc) on WinVista 64Bit). MD-11 has the latest SP installed.Many Thanks,TorstenPS: Can't attach the aircraft.cfg so I post just the lights part:[LIGHTS]//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobes, 3=Navigation, 4=Cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=Logolight.0 = 8, -85.231, 23.611, -1.000, fx_PMDG_MD11_winglight,light.1 = 7, -85.231, -23.611, -1.000, fx_PMDG_MD11_winglight,light.2 = 2, -14.500, 0.00, -10.750, fx_PMDG_MD11_LL_Light,light.3 = 9, -7.025, 0.00, 4.263, fx_PMDG_MD11_emerlights,

I had that issue, and fixed it by selecting the landing lights for the RealAir Duke in REX. Seems a bit of a strange fix, but it worked!

Has nobody an idea what the cause could be?I would really like to see something out in the dark ;-)Regards,Torsten

Something probably replaced the original spotlight.bmp file, happens with often with so-called enhanced add-ons. Restore the original file.

Hi Dan,That was the hint I was searching for. I had to crawl through all the FSX install CABs and replaced the installed one.Now I can see the rabbits in front of my plane again ;-)Many thanks for your help.Regards,Torsten

Selecting any of the "high intensity" ones will work as well.

Torsten,Could you be a bit more specific on how you "crawled through all the FSX install CABs and replaced the installed one"?I'm having the same problem, but I have no clue what any of your sentence means..Your help would be much appreciated!

Hi Sander,I have extracted all the CAB files from the installation DVDs of FSX and searched for the spotlight.bmp.Read the following article from M$:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/129605/en-usAfter I found the file I just copied it to my FSX installation (use the search in Windows to find the file). It was somewhere below FSX/Textures I think. If you are using xgraphics, I found (later) an easier way --> http://forum.avsim.n...-and-pmdg-md11/See the reply from jordanal.Regards,Torsten

Discovered yesterday that I have this as well :(!Fortunately, I always keep a fresh copy of FSX on my drive. So, I replaced spotlight.bmp, have the landing lights back, but the beam is not gradually rendered but has visible "color steps" in it, as if I had antialiasing turned off :(! Seems to be only the landing/taxi lights because my daylight skies have smooth color gradients...Will experiment today and see if installing another REX light set will help, currently I have REX "Xeon" lights installed...

THANK YOU! I had the exact same problem - none of my landing lights/taxi lights illuminated the runway on any of my payware aircraft. At first I thought it was something to do with flights that transitioned from day to night as I'd read somewhere that FSX can have a problem with that but then when I tried a flight solely at night I found that I still had the same problem.

Luckily I had FSX installed on an old PC so I was able to copy the spotlight.bmp and overright the spotlight file in my new PC and hey presto! It works!
