November 4, 201015 yr Has anyone been able to get the original Flight Unlimited for Windows 95 running on Windows 7? I can't seem to get past the splash screen. It plays the engine start sound and then just quits back to the desktop. I set all the compatibility options and they didn't seem to help:Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 95Run in 256 colorsRun in 640 x 480 screen resolutionDisable visual themesDisable desktop compositionDisable display scaling on high DPI settingsRun this program as an administrator

(may depending of the video card used)here follows how to install it from CD without using the setup.exe and later running it without CD.Check the settings of your current flite.cfg may be there are other folder names on the English version. And by the way you can inspect the .res files of FU1 using Gideon's ResViewer for FU3 !Create a main folder: C:\fu95\create subfolder C:\fu95\data\copy all files from cdrom CD:\CDROM\ to the data subfoldernow you have there the subfolder CATS, GENPILE, GERPILEcopy from the CD:\HD\ folder GENPILE, GERPILE, RECORD to C:\fu95\now you have there DATA,GENPILE, GERPILE, RECORD create there a subfolder LOGS alsoCopy from the CD:\inst\readme.txt, wing.txt to C:\fu95\Copy from the CD:\CDROM\ flight.exe (2059KB) to C:\fu95\create in C:\fu95\ a file FLITE.CFGopen it with notepad editor and insert the lines: (the first is real 1)real 1inp6d -1language 2pile_path C:\fu95\data\genpilelang_path C:\fu95\data\gerpilecat_path C:\fu95\data\catsjoystick 2joythrusthat 383 383 383 383joycenter 116 135 127 363joyrange -128 383 -128 383 -105 383 -128 383fbo_movie_played 0logfile 0adapt the 3 paths to your installation path !now double click flight.exefill in the pilot logbookselect the rotating planeclick in the explanation screenthen click to select flight positionenjoy it :-)
