November 11, 201015 yr I've tested my new i7-930 and made a quick simple OC to 3.8 ghz (no voltage change). I have a Geforce 250GTS - and my fsx is not perfoming very convising. My old Quadcore 9650 @ 3.0 ghz with a 9600GTX card is actually almost as fast as the new setup. So my question is - could it be the graphics card?Or could it be the OC is done "too simple"Or something else.I use Windows 7 64-bit, 6 gb RAM + Geforce 250GTS. // Jesper Giørtz-Behrens ------------ Graphics artist for Prosim737 panels
November 11, 201015 yr ScopeIMHO you are throttling that cpu with a GTX 250. (Really a 9800 re-badged)For best performance it needs a GTX 470/480/580. The 250 would suit a processor running <3GHz.However even if you install a 4xx or 5xx series card you may not see a huge jump in terms of performance, but your system will be better balanced!RegardsPeterH :Batting Eyelashes:
November 17, 201015 yr So my question is - could it be the graphics card?Or could it be the OC is done "too simple"Or something else.My 930 o/c 4ghz was verrrry easy and only required a few notches of voltage. To determine the stability you really need to use a stress program like prime95 or simular. That's the only real way of determining if your overclock is a gooden.
