Hahaha you have me beat by two years. My plane is a 1967 k model.

Don't own it, but I have flown a 1961 Schleicher K-8 fairly regularly; the 737NG is like the Millennium Falcon compared to that thing LOL.Al

35 Gigs, WOW!Makes me wonder how big this is gonna turn out to be. Could we get a rough estimate, like more than 10GB or around 7, something like that?
The source photos the textures are made from take up 35GB, not the product itself. They were taken with a very high resolution camera, that's why. They've been hugely reduced for the actual textures, but when doing this kind of graphics work you always want to start with the highest resolution source material you can get.I can't really say for sure what the final file size at release will be but I'd be surprised if it was over 300MB.

Whoa, hasn't it been said they've been taken with a 50D or sumthin? Sorry, couldn't resist, but taking an educated guess here: Assuming CR2 and about 20 megs per image, we are talking about almost 2K images... Say you eventually used hi res JPEGs though, averaging at 5 megs, we have some whoppin 7K pics... Either way, seems like quite an impressive number as far as reference imagery goes! Big%20Grin.gif I suppose that includes the outside model, not just the panels, or do you have another HD full of external shots? :(sig.gif

Yes, considering the huge amount of data, maybe they photographed in RAW mode and later converted to TIFF.

Will we be able to use the Aerosoft MCP in the 737NGX? I have been saving this hardware for years in hope that it will be useable.Looking forward to the plane.Tom

Tom this really depends on the hardware developers of the MCP and not PMDG. When the NGX is released you probalby wont be able to use it right away.But... With the SDK PMDG provides the information that hardware developers need to make an interface for the MCP, so it can be used together with the NGXSo this really depends on the hardware developers. My guess is that you can't use it at release, but probably a bit later.

What is a polling interval that an ex PMDG employee talks about, as far as my cpflight mcp having pauses when trying to use it on the 747-400? He said the ball was in PMDG's court.

Probably he's right. As far as I know, the NGX is the first aircraft that PMDG releases where PMDG has made it easy for hardware developers to make an interface (using SDK - Software development kit). PMDGs 747-400/X does not have the SDK, so that is why it is harder for hardware developers to make an interface for their hardware. But, I am not a hardware guy, so why your MCP pauses I don't know. But I guess it could be that its hard to interface to the queen without having SDK available. :)I'm not an expert, so please correct me if I am wrong :)

The K-8 is a great bird, I have flown that one regularly too. (The picture in my avatar is actually taken from a Ka-8b :D)But don't even think you can compare it to the NG Just%20Kidding.gifPS. I have also flown the Puchacz quite often. Just like the one in your avatar :)

Love the Puchacz, tough as old boots and twice as reliable, and it was the first aircraft I ever spun, so you always love the one you did that in!Al

I see Capt. Mike Ray, known for his great sim guides, has a guide to the 737NG series 600-900 announced as "coming soon." Not to detract from the great manuals produced by PMDG but I figure the more the merrier on the bookshelf. Unfortunately Ray doesn't give an ETA for the book. You can find his website here. tp://www.utem.com/ Something to watch for.Bruce Campion-Smith

Cheers,

Should be good. Captain Mike Ray is an excellent writer who gets stuff over in an entertaining and informative way. You've also got these good old favourites too of course, by Captains Bill Bulfer and Richard Gifford:http://www.stopoverstore.com/product/nav.cfm/pnid/519/nid/544And these, by Captain Pat Boone (presumably not the Pat Boone, unless he's taken time from his busy and lengthy pop career to write a guide to flying the Boeing 737):http://www.b737mrg.net/Al
