I would love for the feature of picking up MET's (METAR and TAF) via the ACARS system in the NGX. Adding the ICAO code and after some seconds you'll have the current MET report for your destination - dont know if this can be done, but sometime in the future it would be a great thing to work along with Activesky Evolution for us running them on the same computer..
That would be brilliant! Especially if we had a way to select the source of of the METs using a configuration utility before flight. Right now I'm doing the same using FS Flight Keeper's ACARS and that means adding an extra gauge to the cockpit that may or may not fit aesthetically with the other panels.Shouldn't be hard to code either.

It would be incredibly cool if it was integrated with the Hoppie ACARS system and if it had a D-ATIS function that could grab VATSIM controller ATISs.

I know some one posted about this a while ago and let me make it known that I'm not complaining in anyway about the NGX, I think its the greatest thing I've ever seen. But over by the window handle that peice that protrudes over the window handle,I'm not even sure what it is, but when I go on A.NET in the cockpit shots it always looks like its flush or at least the same length as the handle. I know you have all the measurements from Boeing and have NG pilots on hand, I'm just asking why it looks that way, is it the angle or something. Again I'm not complaining at all I was just wondering why it seems to look longer than the handle if that makes sense.Mike Davey 777

Hi Mike,It has already been discussed and I think the conclusions were: 1) could have to do with the angle that the image was taken at 2) don't forget that those images are coming from an incomplete software package.

I just was wondering if it would be possible to get a preview update of the 2D panel, if not a preview a simple screenshot would suffice. If not a screenshot, a post that explains the functions/visuals of the 2D cockpit (since the only available information as of now is that there will be a 2D cockpit, but not to what extent and how it will function). A future NGX customer,Rob BelachPS. Happy new years everyone!
Happy New Year to you too! There is a 2D Panel. On the panel are knobs and switches, in 2D. There are also 2D displays on it. The switches, when clicked will interact with the airplane's systems! Not sure what else to say about it... 2D panels have been around since 1980. We'll be showing screenshots of them soon enough, as well the the exterior!

Yes, #2 is pretty much dead on. There are a few parts that still have to be beat into submission, this being one of them.

Fair enough Vin, fair enough. Eagerly awaiting the pictures though, but I guess we are all. wink.gifRob Belach

I like the way you phrased this. Sometimes it feels like there's a particular thing that just doesn't want to be right no matter how many times it is adjusted. :(

Just get the GTX580 and a fast Core i7. You'll get amazing result in FSX using Orbx scenery with a very high detailed aircraft! Trust me. :D
Just out of interest, regarding your SSD and Harddrive, where do you have things installed? OS on ssd- fsx on HDD, or both on SSD?Im just curious as i will be going SSD route shortly at present I have 3 HDs in my PC, WIN7 on one for main PC use, which is paritioioned with a second WIN 7 installation for FSX use, a spare drive for storage that backups to NAS, then FSX installed to its own harddrive also.I'd probably like something similar for another setup. but taking advantage of SSD, obvioulsy though with SSD drives size it limits me slightly to how many things could be on one drive

Hmm well I almost have the same setup as him take a look at my signature, I'm going to install FSX on my SSD and Win7 on my 1TB. My SSD is a ton load faster than my HDD.

.

quick question and I"m not sure if its been answered previously or not - re the HUD for the NGX, do you have any issues when using track IR? ie. do you have to be at a certain 'position' to correctly see the HUD data or can it be seen from say slightly off centre to either left or right? (sometimes TIR is a pain in the proverbial).

You didn't watch the YT video linked in the first post of this thread, did you? :( Go watch it and you'll have your answer.
