October 23, 200322 yr Hi Folks,Those of us who like to fly small aircraft in beautiful mountain scenery are fortunate to have fantastic freeware scenery available for Switzerland. Many thanks to Daniel Gauthier, Andreas Hegi, Simon Baumann, Bruno Zurmuehle and Josiah Haut.I finally landed after quite a few hours with Daniel Gauthier's fantastic creation of excellent scenery for Switzerland. I've use his scenery for FS2002 and it is equally as great. The new version takes advantage of FS2004 and seems to allow for better fps and smoother operation. His photoreal buildings and special effects are of the best quality. Many thanks to Daniel Gauthier for the numerious hours spent on developing this fantastic freeware package. It contains numerous airports in Switzerland - all are great! I also spend numerous hours enjoying truly excellent Swiss scenery by Andreas Hegi. His attention to detail and photoreal buildings are perfect for the type of sim flying I love to do. Do a search on his name in the Avsim scenery library for his various creations. He (and Simon Baumann)have some which are for helicopters only and are very interesting and in scenic areas. He has obviously spent many hours at his creations and they are wonderful! To round out the Swiss Sim scene (that I've found), we have Bruno Zurmuehle for his excellent rendition of Buttwil and Josiah Haut for his terrain mesh of Switzerland.I can't thank you folks enough for your craetions and the many hour of pure sim flying joy they have brought me.I urge anyone who likes excellent airport/airfield scenery and beautiful mountain areas, to search Avsim's scenery library (fs2002 and fs2004) using the authors names and download all of them! By the way, I found the fs2002 scenery worked fairly well in fs2004 (with some minor problems, not bad).If you know of any other authors of Swiss scenery that I haven't mentioned, please post their names and describe the work they've done.regards,Howard
October 23, 200322 yr Thanks Howard, I have been meaning to install these, but haven't gotten to it, looks like it's time! October 24, 200322 yr Good post, Howard ... like you, I have all this stuff for FS2002 and FS2004 and it is THE BEST. Sion has almost become my home airport.Interested parties should check this site regularly:http://www.aviasim.chMark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
October 24, 200322 yr Cool site Mark! Question, after looking at all the files, it looks as though there are 2 sets of textures and then a slew of sceneries, is it possible to instll all the BGLs into the same scenery folder and activate them all at once and are there additional textures needed?Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://mysite.verizon.net/res052cd/mybannercva1.jpgCalVirAir International VAwww.calvirair.comCougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviationwww.cgrmtnhelos.com Best, Michael KDFW
October 24, 200322 yr I have all Daniel's work in one folder. The two texture sets are shared by all, and none of the scenery bgls need flatten or excludes so you can happily dump them all together. It seems, also, that Andreas' work never conflicts with Daniel's (although I have not checked with the authors) and so you can even put all his in there too if you want.I still have loads of room for sceneries in FS9 but it was an issue with me in FS2002 as I hit the layer limit very early on.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM

October 24, 200322 yr Mark,I have the wonderful Swiss scenery (of course), also in one folder. There is one thing, though. Try going to Sion in spring. It crashes the sim for me, or better, I get thrown back to the desktop. Does it happen for you as well? Thanks! :)And thanks to Daniel and co. for their fantastic work! :)Regards,JureBush Flying Unlimited]"At home in the wild"[/i
October 24, 200322 yr JureDo you, by any chance, have Lago's Switzerland Terra Mesh installed because they mention the Sion crash in their documentation? Now that I have all of the swiss airports installed I have created my own zip file to keep all the BGLs and textures. Next time I have to re-install them I will only have one zip file to deal with rather than several.David
October 24, 200322 yr >Do you, by any chance, have Lago's Switzerland Terra Mesh>installed because they mention the Sion crash in their>documentation?I noticed that with both my ch-03 and ch-04 sion freeware in fs2004. There's a few .bgl files for Sion that I removed (small files - 1kb in size). This solved the crash bug.I also experienced crashes near another airport (LSZT I think), I isolated the problem to a switzerland landclass file that I migrated from fs2002 to fs2004. Disabling that file solved the problem. It now runs very very nicely. The CH-03 scenery had lots of stutter problems. The CH-04 scenery has reduced these stutters at most of these airports (but not all).

October 24, 200322 yr David & Anthony, thanks for the tip! I have a freeware mesh installed and the landclass. I'll try and remove those files first and see if that resolves the crashes.Regards,JureBush Flying Unlimited]"At home in the wild"[/i
October 24, 200322 yr Just like the subject says, I discovered what was causing the crashes in Sion in springtime. It was the Gaia mesh I have for this area. :(Something special there? If Lago's mesh does the same... ?Regards,JureBush Flying Unlimited]"At home in the wild"[/i
October 24, 200322 yr Great looking scenery, and clearly wonderfully detailed work. Just a well-meaning suggestion here: The website for this scenery must be the slowest loading site I've ever seen, and perhaps an assumption has been made that everyone has broadband. The opening page has a massive jpg, which took over 2 minutes to load, and that's before you get to the main page! The rest of the site appears to have incredibly slow-loading pages. Perhaps the nice chaps at this site might consider compressing their jpg's? Even the tiny little icons take an age to load. It took me about twenty minutes of online time just to browse the main pages.Rob Young Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
October 24, 200322 yr Author Anthony,Do you remember the LSGS *.bgl files that you removed. (There are about 9 small files in the FS2004 version.)Best,Mike --Mike MacKuen
