I think I just got a nasty case of the stutter...

Featured Replies

I blew away my FS9 installation completly and started a nice re-orginization of all my Flight Sim Software....I re-installed and followed pretty much One Tin Solders tweaking guide but now I have a pretty severe pause that happens when im flying. My Frame rate is steady at around 19 around KSEA which is pretty good while im in VRF mode I hit well over 20 when im High Altitude but the pause or stutter is killing me....I have looked at all the usual places and I cant seem to find the issue. Running a intel 2.4 with an asus p4b533 and a radion 9000 pro 128 meg with the latest omega driver.Nothing hardware wise has changed since the re-install and my configuration is pretty standard according to the tweaks I have inserted my FS9 CFG file into this messagePlease give me a hand on this the stutter seems random in time and hold the system for about a second and goes away and then comes back its really killing my immersion.I do have my sound acceleration set to basic.* Not really the sort of thread title we want in the Avsim Forums, hence it being deleted.

Just to add some info I only have added the current FSIUPC, EZ-Landmarks and ADVDISP all are registered. This is not so much as a stutter which is related to sound but almost an application freeze and then it recovers. The pause is about 1-2 seconds in length really a killer when your comeing in on short final.

Oh, you don't know what you are asking for the causes of stuttering are legion!First, I think you need to start from basics: Defrag the partition where FS is installed and, for good measure, do it again.Uninstall all the addons that are running concurrently with the sim. Make sure all the unnecessary background programs are stopped/closed prior to starting the sim. EnditAll is great for this purpose - quick and efficient (Use Google to track it down if you are not already using it).Backup FS9.cfg and then delete the original.Run FS2004 and setup the basics like screen resolution and colour depth. For the moment accept all the defaults allocated by the sim.Fly from the default situation.Does she stutter?Mike

I just cured a two week running stutter issue in mine. The guilty culprit was an autosave.dll in the .../modules folder. And I don't for the life of me know where it came from or how it got there. In troubleshooting I learned that it's not part of the default install. I removed it and stutters are gone. So is the autosave. Shame too, I really liked the 'my restore' feature...Might look for that...BobL
