Yes I am a noob and have been flying in dx10 mode since I started FSX over 1.5 years ago. For where I fly third party compatablity is problem rarely at night at some add-on airports.I like dx 10 mode vs dx 9 for preformance and looks. Seems to have a large impact looks-wise onmy machine.Tried the dx9 ******* teaks and yes I do get better overall fps in dx 9 mode, but still prefer dx 10.So happy flying in dx 10:)When I messed with the oc on my little 285, it did seem to impact fps quite considerably in dx 10 mode, justcurious if others have had the same experience with th 480/580 series in dx 10 mode vs dx 9? I have seen Spirit's awsome graphic card benchmarking work, just not sure if this is in dx 9 as most ppl report little changein a graphic cards oc in fsx....So does dx 10 mode have any variance in gpu clock speed increase vs dx 9? I am sure nobody usses or test dx 10 in FSX besides my dumb &@($*, but thoughtI would pose the question nevertheless.Simon

DX10 produces graphical glitches with many add-ons, from flashing ground textures to grey windshields. If you fly stock FSX it's decent though.

Thanks Max,The Dx10 issues are workable for me with add-ons, just wondered if ocing the graphics card gives the same effect reguradless of dx 10 or 9 mode as some of the new 400 and 500 cards can oc so well?

I haven't run benchmarks w/DX10 mode extensively so I can't comment. I'd imagine the answer is that they behave similarly, with DX10 receiving perhaps slightly more performance due to a GPU OC, being that it is doing more work on the GPU than DX9 mode.
