I was thinking about something I bought for Flight Sim 98 the other day, and then it occurred to me..... it was published by PMDG!!! When i was younger, I convinced my Dad to make his first online purchase ever (it was before i was old enough for a credit card). It was a Boeing 757 .air file and manual for FS98. I used it with a freeware Air 2000 757 from Avsim combined with Eric Ernst's 767 panel. What a long way PMDG has come (and the panel - it becamse PIC, then Level-D!)It made me wonder - are any of you PMDG folk still the very same folk that were behind that addon? Did anyone else ever buy a product from that range?CheersRob

I vaguely remember the first addon i bought. It was the Airport series (don't ask me who published it). I also had a 747-400 addon from abacus. Both were for FS98. I didn't buy anything for FS2000 or 2002. Addons for those were strictly freeware. First from simviation, then they decided to charge for library access. (I don't even know if they're still around.) In searching for a new library, I found a few including Avsim. After downloading tons of addons from them, a company called iFly released a B744 (which was my favorite aircraft until a certain MD11 came along). While looking for more textures for the aircraft, I noticed another 747 model kept popping up. Also, those adverts at the top of the screen were mentioning it as "The Queen of the Skies".That started my addiction to payware addons. First was obviously the PMDG 747-400. PMDG has become my trusted source for payware addon aircraft althought I owned addons from other companies also. FS2Crew helped there. Airports are mainly from FlyTampa or Aerosoft and depend heavily if AES works with it or not. Too bad virtual flying doesn't pay because i sure could use the money, or atleast I'd be able to deduct it on my taxes! :(

This was before the company started making MFS add-ons in their own right.Some current PMDG customers may not know that the company originally started out as a publisher of documentation for other developers' products, thus the "Precision Manuals" name.I still have my manual, and still use PS 1.3 on an old Pentium 1 computer running Windows 98Jim Barrett

Jim, You beat me to it, I still have my old manuals too. I remember the distribution was softcopy and I had to print it out by my self. I just received my new 747 manuals definitely a quantum improvement in 12 years.Although I haven't flown PS13 in a long time, changed over to the PMDG 747 when it came out.Dell Farnan.

My first PMDG product was the PMDG B757 for Terminal Reality's (TRI) Fly! simulator. The Fly! series (Fly!, Fly! 2K and Fly! II) was a wonderful platform; as well as all of the PMDG aircraft.Regards,Bob Lyddy

My first PMDG was the 757 for Fly! Even though the graphics/depth of simulated systems of today's FSX/FS9 cannot be beat, those days of competition between XPlane - Fly! - Microsoft Flight Simulator - Flight Unlimited brought out the best of the sim developers; the community felt more alive back then when it seemed a new simulator title or an iteration of an existing title was being released every year.

My first PMDG Addon was the 747-400 X. But i'm just 16 years old and i'm flightsimming for about 2 years now. I think if i would have been born earlier i would have been using PMDG planes earlier ;)By the way, does someone know where i can still get the old PMDG products? I'd like to try them on my old FS98 ;)

The FS9 ones are still good for download on their website.My first PMDG was exactly a year ago (Jan 6) with the 747.

C'mon they're still to new. What i meant was the really old product, like the ones for FS98.And also i don't want to pay for them. Many developers have made freeware out of their very old things.I tought PMDG have done this also.

My first PMDG product was the FLY! 767 & 757. Anyone remember that PMDG released a scenery product for FLY! of the Greek airports? :Big Grin:Other interesting stuff: PMDG's first aircraft add-on for MSFS was the NG for FS2002. As mentioned above I believe that PMDG's first product was the manual for the Aerowinx747 hence the name (P)recision (M)anuals (D)evelopment (G)roup.

Now I thought FS95 was old, this is the first time i have seen the "History of flight simulator" it really is amazing how far we have come!
