RXP GPS - Flight Plans

Recommended Posts

Hi,I was curious if anyone is using the RXP 500w or 400 series GPS's and can verify that FlightPlans created by the RXP GPS can be used with RC. The reason I ask is that when reading the RXP docs, the GPS needs to create the Flight Plan and then export that plan. It stated something about FS only being able to use an airport as a starting and ending waypoint. Just a little confused as I have not yet been able to get to the point with the GPS to export a flight plan. I did not want to continue with this if for some reason the exported flight plan would not work with RC or for some other reason the two are not compatible.ThanksBob

I could not find the specific product on RXP's web site. I downloaded one of the WASS GNS's user guides but that did not mentioning creating and exporting a flight plan.RC can read a standard FSX and FS9 flight plan. As stated the plan requires a departure and destination airport.RC uses FSUIPC for its interface to FS9 and FSX. In FSX FSUIPC4 connects to FS using SimConnect.RC has no problem with XML FSX plans. Occasionally some FS9 plans have an extra field that causes errors in RC.Do you have this product from RXP?http://www.simforums.com/Forums/forum12.html is the support forum. Apparently the flightplan is created in the Garmin Trainer module, a product from Garmin. One of the first threads that came up today was how to create a flightplan. Here's a link to the trainer module, a free download.http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3532 about a 200 MB download. (15 minutes at 1.5 Mbps)A 530 trainer manual link is here:http://www8.garmin.com/products/manual.jsp?product=010-00416-01You should be able to install the trainer in up to Win XP, maybe a newer version, and create and export a plan to see how it works in your version of FS and with RC4.I'm downloading now out of curiosity. The manual covers flight plan creation and copying but nothing about FS exports, probably something added by RXP.RXP in my opinion is a reliable developer. With FS9 and RC I use their Jetline and Apollo products plus the WX500 Radar. There are other FS developers that have created non-WAAS 400 and 500 series GPS's. Each have their strengths and weaknesses such as:http://www.friendlypanels.com/htm/gps.htm. These are non-WAAS extensions of the FS default garmins.http://isgsim.com/?page=features offers an instrument suite for charter/airliner type aircraft. I have this suite. It is AIRAC updatable (by subscription) and with the fsbuild 2.4 flightplanner. I use FS Panel Studio, a flight1.com distribution, to install gauges. It is an expensive combination of utility add-ons but quite flexible and powerful that can modify freeware aircraft panels to add more realistic devices. I have not explored fully the ISG flight plan creation and export options because I use FSBuild for that.
