Air New Zealand 777-300s squishy!

The new photo I have seen of the ANZ 777-300 ER just delivered (interior shot) looks like the passengers are squeezed lemons!Cathay Pacific has a 3-3-3 seating config in economy and can highly recommend this.I am staying clear of ANZ even though the 777 is my favourite.Daniel

They have the new sky couch on that aircraft too. Not sure if it is just the window side of aisle though. But that may be a reason why the seats aren't big.Daniel

I have been on the Air New Zealand 777 and I will say that they are squishy. My last flight with them was 2 weeks ago with my girlfriend on the 747 and I always book the third row from the back. This is where the rows narrow from 3 seats to 2 seats so you get that extra bit of room. That is Row 65 seat A & C or seat H & K. WIth two people their is plenty of room in those seats. Here is a seat map:http://www.seatguru....747-400_new.phpIt says on the map Some Drawbacks meaning the distance from the seat to the window. However when the Aircraft takes off at 7PM from Vancouver and lands at 5:30AM in New Zealand their is nothing outside that window but night sky and ocean. Nothing to see. Same with the LAX - Auckland Flight.....Nothing but Darkness. The Sky Couch looks cool but you have to pay for 2.5 fares to get that extra seat. So Row 65 seats H&K is the cheaper, roomier option.

Thanks for the info!I have not flown ANZ yet. I want to try the Air Canada 777 either from Sydney or from Hong Kong.If I do try ANZ it will be a 767 from Perth to Auckland. But at least ANZ have 777s, not like Qantas!Do you think ANZ's 747-400s are being replaced with the 773?Daniel

Yes they are replacing the 747-400 over the next few years. This is why I chose the 747-400 everytime I fly now as in a few years they won't be around. I am nostalgic as I have been flying on the ANZ 747-400 since I was 15 years old and I am 40 years old now. I still like the 777's but I like the 747 more as it is the 'Queen of the Sky'They just had an ANZ 777-300 land here in Wellington last Wednesday. It was the longest aircraft to ever land at Wellington Airport and it had a large reception. ANZ was showing off the new aircraft and seating configuration to the public here. I didn't make it out but a few people I know saw it landing over the harbour. Sorry I missed it. The 747 is a very trusty aircraft. Very forgiving to fly. They just need a quieter version (the 747-800 Intercontinental is quieter like the A380). The 747-800 is going to be good because it will have more comfort (room). But the 747-400 is nice. The 777 is very nice to fly, both for passenger and pilot. I think airlines are going to the 777 from the 747 now.Daniel
