World of AI and General AI Questions

Featured Replies

I've been using other AI packages and decided to give the World of AI stuff a go. I loaded all of their packages and started a flight at PHTO. Much to my surprise there were no other aircraft at Hilo...I was the only one there. But when I use My Traffic or other AI traffic packages, there are always other aircraft on the ground. So is this what actually happens at PHTO and that the flight plans with other AI packages are simply created so that there will always be flights every where? Also, I've noticed that AIG releases new flight plans for many airlines from time to time. Do you simply compile them with Traffic Tools and then replace existing traffic BGLs in favor of the new ones?I guess what I'm trying to ask is what is the normal process for using World of AI and AIG flight plans. I mean, how does one manage to keep current and the proper technique for doing it. Please advise and thanks!Mark

I started out by installing every WOAI package. But then I became bothered by some out of date ones, and decided to replace them.Get the flightplans from somewhere, then go into the "expert mode" of the WOAI installer and delete the package that you are replacing. Then install the necessary ai aircraft/repaints, install the new flightplans, and you're done.To keep up to date on what's going on and to check what packages I have installed I just have a txt file in which I made a list of all the AI traffic packages that I put in, in alphabetical order so I can check to see if a package has been installed or not and it's location and name so I can delete if I want to later. It's currently a list of around 200.

That sounds like good advice. How do I find out which airlines, (that WOAI supports), which fly into and around Hawaii. Now I know Hawaiian Air does but in order to possibly duplicate what's going on in Hawaii, how will you know without going through all of the BGLs with Traffic Tools? Is there an easier way...Mark

Perhaps I am misunderstanding your question - but on the World of AI main page is an option named WoAI Airports. Click on it and enter the ICAO code for any airport you are interested in and it will display a listing of all WOAI Airline packages which visit that airport. That at least tells you which packages you should install to have that airport "covered".

wikipedia has a list of which airlines fly into each airport if you look up the airport

Thanks Opa...I was looking for that but it was around 3am and my eyes had the blurries! I was also looking for the wikipedia response from andqui thinking that there is only so much that WOAI could do being a free, (but very cool), service.Mark

This is also what I was looking for. The rational being is that WOAI probably doesn't have the resources to maintain all flights for all airlines going into an airport. So if you are a true hobbist then the idea is to supplement and enhance the great head start the WOAI provides. One way to do it is to base your enhancements in reality, (always a good place to start), and go from there. The only way to do that is to have a list of who's actually going into the airport. Thanks for the great lead :)Mark

Good advice Mark. Use WoAI as a great start and then use TTools and other freeware AI products to tweak your AI until it looks just the way you want it. e.g. I have revived Aloha in Hawaii - who wants "realism" when it means less and less diversity and the loss of wonderful paint schemes? Then make your own files for Inter Island (Dash-8's)and several other internal companies, as well as the occasional cargo visitor. But I better warn you - it's addictive! I sometimes seem to spend far more time "tweaking" than flying! :( But as long as it's fun, who cares?

You can go to flightaware and see what's going in and out, but essentially it's Hawaiian, Mesa dba Go!Mukulele and Aloha dba Aloha Air Cargo.I like AI Traffic Mover. You can examine your traffic files and it gives a nice report of the number of arrivals and takeoffs during each hour at a given airport. Or AI Flight Planner and ACA2005 both give a timetable for a given airport. If you have the sdk you can install the traffictoolbox which has a traffic explorer windows which shows data on all active AI in your area while running FS9.scott s..

First I install all the packages from WOAI (took me couple of days for downloading them :(). After that I download the latest flightplans for some airlines (usually big ones or the ones that I'm interested in) and replace the WOAI packages.I don't know about your guys speed on doing this but installing the Lufthansa flightplans manually took me about an hour and Delta /American/United Airlines each took me about two hours or more :wacko:What a time consuming work! but fun :wink:After installing some airlines manually,I go into Fs2004 to check if everything works correctly or not. Sometimes I got pi**ed because of grey aircrafts textures which I don't know which airline it belongs to :(

Turn on AI aircraft labels and you'll know which airline it is, if it's moving. I think it's Ctrl-L? If they are on the ground you will have to get quite close before the label shows. If sitting at the gate all you can do is use the Traffic Explorer, check the list for an aircraft you do not see there, and double click it to to check to see if that is the one.Hope this helps,

It's CTRL+Shift+ L :( It sits at the cargo ramp at Anchorage and Hong Kong and model is B747F. I might take a look at the AFCAD.ThanksBig%20Grin.gif
