February 26, 201115 yr I have purchased three Carenado craft: the 182RG which is a real winner, The Beech V33 which is ok too, and now the 340 which I now consider a "work in progress". Frankly, I have freeware functions better and only wish it were possible to get a refund on this plane.Today, FINALLY, the engines start as they should and the autopilot also. But now: Shift+1 brings up a GPS that is still turned off and CANNOT BE RESIZED (it is LONG and thin)Same with the Autopilot: Shift+4 and it pops up larger than life and also cannot be resized. The GNS 430 pages do not work: I have yet to get the MAP pageThe EGT gauge not only does not work when adjusting mixture, the reference needles cannot be set.I could go on but the above is enough. It may be my FSX but I doubt it. I ALWAYS begin with the default flight before loading any complex planes. No problems with the Beechcraft DUKE, RealAir Spitfire, PMDG JS41,etc.I look forward to some serious updates from Carenado on this plane. Until then it will be stowed away. It is a lovely bird but enough is enough.Too bad these download, licensed planes cannot be sold or I would have a good deal for someone.I apologize for such a negative post. Usually I am full of optimism but it has run out. A 73 year old old flyboy can't waste too much time trying to fix something when alternatives are available.Cheers to all...tomorrow will be a better day Neal Howard
February 27, 201115 yr This may be of some help. I also thought the GPS was HUUUUGE! Edit the panel.cfg thus:[Window01]Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=350,230position=0visible=0zorder=8ident=GPS_PANELgauge00=CarenadoG430!GNS430_nc1, 0,0,350,230I've changed the window on mine so that I have Shift+2 the same as on all my aircraft. Just check the window number. Saves having to faff about resizingGood luck. The aircraft is well worth persevering with. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
February 28, 201115 yr I am sorry you are so frustrated, but you do appear to be having problems that no one else is experiancing. What did you change to get the engines working? Can I suggest that before you throw it away, you uninstall it, reboot, and then install it again from scratch. It is possible that you were just unlucky the first time. Paul Smith.
February 28, 201115 yr Author Thanks Paul. Yes, it seems that I am having a unique set of problems. As for the engines...not a clue. Day after day it wouldn't start. Gave it one more try before hitting CONT+E (or whatever) and they cranked just as they should.I will take your advise and try the uninstall/install routine. It really is a lovely craft. Neal Howard
February 28, 201115 yr Well, I may have some good news!I just had your engine and brake problems! I had been flying PMDGs MD-11 into a NZAA, and wanted to take the C340 down to NZQN and while I would normally stop and restart FSX, this time I didn't. I loaded the C340 and straight away, the engines would not start with left engine lasting 10 seconds or so, and the right engine only lasting 2 or 3. Pressing the starter button kicked the plane 90 degrees (ish) to one side or the other. The solution: Restart FSX and from the 'free flight' menu, make sure you select a default aircraft at a default airport. As a general rule, you should not saved flights or default flights with advanced aircraft or sceneries as something in them seems to get corrupted and causes mischief when trying to use any other advanced add-ons. Try it and see if it works for you. Paul Smith.
March 2, 201115 yr He`s not the only one , just because nobody mention`s something all is well, I cant see the gps either , cant resize it bigger , and of course the HSI cannot be read at 70 zoom or more
March 2, 201115 yr Sorry XMAN, the 2D GPS does not resize with out the workaround, fair enough but why can't you see it? And what is it you think is wrong with the HSI? You say if nobody mentions it does not mean all is well, but why on earth would you expect something to be fixed if you can't even be bothered to say what it is you think needs fixing? Paul Smith.
March 2, 201115 yr Hi Paul fellow kind flightsimmer,i have a post , it may be on page two now, and its about not being able to see the HSI numbers, so what does Carenado do? they increase the Altitude readout of which i was able to see fine before the patch, what happen to the popups, i had to add the saratoga HSI popup, also the sounds are too quiet in the cockpit at idle , but they do sound nice once you throttle up, i can also tell the 185 sounds were recycled for some of the exterior sounds.
March 2, 201115 yr I just had a look at your post about the HSI over on the SP thread, and I suspect that you might need, as you suggested yourself, to wear glasses. There is nothing wrong with the HSI figures that I could see. The posted shot in that thread looked fine even on my monitor here in work and I have no issues using the HSI at home. Exactly like a real aircraft, they are sufficiently clear to tell you that you are on course with just a glance, and if you are changing the settings, you would zoom your focus in anyway. Did you know that if you have tool-tips enabled and you hover the mouse over the heading or course knobs, they will display the exact degrees they are set to? [something you can not do in the real plane]I can not comment on the accuracy of the sounds, never having flown in a C340, but I would say that they sound nice to my ears, and seem realistic compared to planes I have flown in. Do you have a problem with recycling sounds or is there a sound used from the 182 that you think is wrong on the 340? Paul Smith.
March 2, 201115 yr Commercial Member Guys, I'm not having any trouble resizing the 2D GPS pop-up panel. Okay, maybe it's a little hard to hit the exact spot for sizing it, but carefully mousing around the borders of the unit will usually result in the resize cursor, and from there I just pull it out to whatever size I need. Agreed, it would be better if the window had a wider border and didn't require such fine motor skills to grab and stretch, but it does work.Or maybe I misunderstood the complaint... :( Bill Womack ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Visit my FS Blog or follow me on Twitter (username: bwomack). March 3, 201115 yr Don't forget that you may have to right-click the GPS's pop-up window, and select "Undock", in order to 'separate it' and to then be able to drag the borders & corners of the window to resize it; sounds silly, but something I have forgotten many times .
