I've been busy with research this week and have just been to lazy to get it done. I will do it very soon, though unless Word Not Allowed beats me to it.

I can only say I am very content with the results. I had to wait for a month to get my new pc, butit appears to be worthwhile. I am going for a Holiday now and will overclock my pc afterwards.Hope to appear on the scoreboard somewhere at the top of the list.Hardware Configuration: CPU: Intel i7-2600k @ 4.46 HT on RAM: 2x4GB 1600 (9-9-9-24-1T) GPU: Palit Nvdia GTX580 3072mb HDD: SSD, Vertex 3 120GB FSXMark11 Results: Test Frames Time (ms) Min Max Avg2 14684 300000 30,0 63,0 48,93 14328 300000 29,0 62,0 47,84 14344 300000 31,0 62,0 47,8AVG 14452 300000 30,0 62,3 48,2Greatings Fred

I am a bit jaleous to FlyingFred ;-) ....he beats 5ghz pc's at 4.4! Very interesting to know if the 3GB GTX580 or the Vertrex 3 or both cause this. I know he did the test 100% to the manual because I personally know him.....he boots Windows from Velocitiraptor and FSX is on seperate SSD

Its definitely not the Vertex 3. Did he remember to set WideAspect to True?

Well, I finally got around to experimenting with this. During the tweaking and tuning part of the guide, there were a couple of suggestions in red. One of the had to do with an external programs that "would signficantly increase frames rates". Because I found no explicit instructions on what to do with the red suggestions, I did not install/configure them. The mobo has a quick OC utility that sets the CPU frequency. These results are based simply on different CPU frequencies, and in the final two case, HT Off (HT was on for all but the last two) and SLI (I installed my second GTX 570 and the SLI board). The hardware is listed in my signature.I'm open to suggestions and other configurations, if there is something you'd like me to try. I'll be a guinea pig for a little while. Anyway, here's the results3.4 GHz - HT On Frames Time (ms) Min Max Avg11487 300000 26 52 38.2911575 300000 25 52 38.58311611 300000 26 52 38.70311550 300000 25 52 38.53.7 GHz - HT On Frames Time (ms) Min Max Avg12477 300000 26 56 41.5912142 300000 25 54 40.47312071 300000 25 54 40.23712017 300000 25 55 40.0573.9 GHz - HT On Frames Time (ms) Min Max Avg12298 300000 24 55 40.99312185 300000 25 55 40.61712260 300000 25 56 40.86712372 300000 24 55 41.244.2 GHz - HT On Frames Time (ms) Min Max Avg12608 300000 24 56 42.02712518 300000 27 54 41.72712501 300000 25 56 41.6712499 300000 24 56 41.6634.2 GHz - HT Off Frames Time (ms) Min Max Avg12825 300000 24 56 42.7512713 300000 24 55 42.37713361 300000 28 57 44.53713171 300000 27 56 43.9034.2 GHz - HT Off - SLI Frames Time (ms) Min Max Avg7348 300000 16 30 24.4937238 300000 16 31 24.1277385 300000 16 32 24.6177329 300000 16 32 24.43I graphed these results in Excel to compare them. What I found interesting was the frame rate increase from CPU 3.4 to CPU 3.7 was a greater percentage than the from 3.7 to 3.9 or 3.9 to 4.2. Another interesting aspect was the increase in frame rates with HT Off. Finally, the drastic decrease in frame rates with two cards and SLI.Again, this is a quick and dirty attempt at overclocking the CPU. I still have some more experimenting to do. And, suggestions are welcome.Greg

Hi GregAny idea why SLI causes such a big drop for you? I don't have the same problem.

Hey Howard,No, I have no idea. I'm still a newbie when it comes to SLI so I'm not sure how to tune that yet.Greg
