Take a look at Phuket Airport (VTSP)

Recommended Posts

HiI have a slope at the western end of the runway at VTSP. Would someone mind having a look and confirming if this is present in the default scenery or not?ThanksJason

No slope in my VTSP.
Thanks! That's weird then. I wonder where my slope has come from? I haven't installed any scenery. Is the altitude of the runway 88' ?

Well, the airport altitude is 82ft and directly west of the airport is the ocean (0ft altitude) so the ground needs to get from the airport flatten of 82ft down to 0ft pretty quickly. The airport flatten ends at around the edge of the cleared grass area (where the fence line is) and that is pretty close to the shoreline. How quickly the terrain changes and what you will see all comes down to your personal terrain mesh resolution settings. At 5m I have a nice cliff edge, maybe not realistic when compared with the real world (although I don't know what the real world is like) but looks acceptable. At 38m though it all gets a bit ugly with water patches at the top of the slope. There's just not enough space between the edge of the airport flatten and the ocean for the 38m resolution to bend the terrain neatly.Try messing with your terrain mesh resolution settings to see what changes it makes. (Under menu Options/Settings/Display and then tab Scenery)

I didn't know you could set the terrain mesh resolution! I have the slope with the ugly water patches. Really I just wanted to find out if that was default FSX or not. So say it is and some say they have no slope. In real life there is a sloping beach but it's more rounded. Thanks for the help!

Phuket Airport is changing drastically. The present Phuket Airport scenery made by AA Sceneries or whatever from 2012 is completely outdated. I dunno how to add pictures from my computer.

Perhaps the following link in the screen shot forum will help - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
