Installing RXP GNS530 in Baron 58

Recommended Posts

Dear Bert, I think I am a bit like Les with his dual 430's. I've made some progress trying to configure my GNS530 Garmin to the B58, but got myself a bit bogged down at this point. Would you be kind enough to spell it out for me and perhaps any other RXP users who are reading this. I somehow managed to get the GNS530, GMA340, and GTX327 from RXP correctly installed in my ORBx Lancair, but that was a few months ago now. All I want to do is replicate that set-up in the B58, if I can. I presume I would need to use all-RXP gauges, since they are designed to talk to each other. But I I'm not even sure how to remove the 3D knobs or swap out the default Audio panel, etc. Cracking plane btw. Very pleased, been waiting a long time for this one. With thanks,GarethCosta Blanca, SPAIN

Hi Gareth,The GMA340 and GTX 327 fit in nicely - just read my post under the GNS430W header. The 530 is a bit of a problem. The space that is taken up by the dual 430s is not onecontiguous space but two separate pieces with a divider. So, you can install a 530W,but it will not look quite right... If that does not bother you, try:[Vcockpit03]Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=512,512visible=0pixel_size=1024,1024texture=$Panel_baron_3gauge00=rxpgns!GNS530, 173,72,328,230gauge01=rxpgns!GTX327, 173,304,328,88gauge02=BB58!Auto_taxi_onoff, 3,170,30,24gauge03=BB58!Bus_Volts, 341,1,168,66//gauge04=BB58!transponder, 172,428,332,82gauge04=rxpgns!plate, 173, 434, 328, 74gauge05=BB58!annunciator_test, 115,171,53,53gauge06=BB58!Trim, 114,226,54,124gauge07=BB58!Flap_lights, 87,266,23,81gauge08=BB58!GEM6, 9,353,159,156//gauge09=BB58!Toggle_Gps, 247,92,189,112gauge10=BB581!fuelflow, 4,4,163,162gauge11=BB583!AirSp, 4,199,28,22gauge12=Controls!Control_init, 0,0,1,1gauge13=rxpgns!plate, 173,396,328,36

You can choose the no-3d knobs option in the Controls window (shift-3)each time you start up the airplane,or make that choice permanent by adding a little gauge.See the Bonanza forum thread for instructions.

Bert, many thanks for the thorough and prompt reply. I quickly found that losing the 3D knobs was as easy as falling out of bed once I explored the SHIFT+ options. The gauge is a welcome bonus, I shall check it out after I have installed the 530. ORBx had a neat solution for the stacking problem by providing a 'filler' panel that could be sized to fill the empty slot. Has ORBx stamped all over it though, and fair enough too. Thanks againGareth

thanks to all for this info, the ONLY thing this great plane needs (in my opinion), is a moving map................I got lost last nite tring fo land at the Orlando Executive airport, so I need the map!!........anyway, for those not real familiar with changing gauges, do I just add the lines of text in the panel folder and it then changes the gauge to look like the picture??........... , if there are any more specific steps, boy, I would appreciate and think that anyone who buys this product will also be in the market for this improvement...........too bad that Carenado did not have this as an option, considering how detailed everything is /////////..................Look forward to making these changes, thanks to you all!!

You have to purchase a GNS430W or GNS530W from Reality-XP (roughly $50).After you purchase and install the gauge into FSX, a few changes in the panel.cfg will make the gauge show up.BTW.. If you want to use dual 430s with Crossfill enabled, it will cost you about $150.

The rxpgns!Plate gauge is such a filler panel. :(

Would a 430 fit in there too? It looks like it would be "close enough", even if you had to squish it a little bit. Move the GTX down to the bottom and put the 430 directly below the 530...If someone tries it, could you please post the config for it?Thanks! :(

I would suggest going with the dual 430s instead. It does not really fit... but if you want to try:[Vcockpit03]...gauge00=rxpgns!GNS530, 173,72,328,230gauge01=rxpgns!GNS430, 173,304,326,122gauge02=BB58!Auto_taxi_onoff, 3,170,30,24gauge03=BB58!Bus_Volts, 341,1,168,66//gauge04=BB58!transponder, 172,428,332,82gauge04=rxpgns!GTX327, 174,430,326,80

Aye, so it is Bert and very smart too! So I am more than happy with the GNS530 nicely installed in the Baron. Many thanks again Bert, great support. kiwicat, IMO the RPX GNS upgrade is worth every penny. It exactly simulates the real-world instrument. Very impressive, and with excellent manuals. What's more it can be used in multiple a/c. It's going into the Bonanza next for me! If you just want a moving map with some very useful features you could try Abacus CoPilot Pro. Gareth

I've owned the RXP 430W for quite a while now. :( Just recently got the 530W when the Turbine Duke was released. I think I smell an Unlimited Pack in my future. My poor wallet... :(

I won’t use any RXP Unlimited until I get a 3D mask for Carenado aircrafts. Personally I like the 3D gauges and they get spoiled once you add a 150$ 2D image to them!

Well I finally got the spot plane views to show up by changing some of the video card settings, so now the Baron is OK!! Only one problem seft, and that is when I do the shift 1, the guage show up as expected, but it does not follow with the ones in the instrument panel, so I can't get the moving map screen to function, and when undocking it goes blank??..........I just did a complete uninstall and reinstall of the Baron so that should not be the problem.............also tried changing the sliders and frame linits, but no help there..........(need the undocked view to make larger so I can see where am going).........hope someone can figure this out, as it worked fine before I changed graphic cards..........B42L8
