March 25, 201115 yr I had posted earlier that I was having OC issues with my replacement revision 3 Asus Sabertooth P67 MB. Well, I just received a replacement for the replacement and am having the same issue. All the settings in the bios are the same but the system does not rev up to speed when taxed. I was getting over 30 fps with the PMDG J41 with my original board but am now only getting about 15fps. Before when loading and using FSX I could hear the fans rev up when the system was under load. Now I get nothing. I had a nice stable 4.8 ghz OC on my original board. I'm wondering if there is an issue with the latest BIOS that came with the B3 revision boards. Is anyone having similar issues? I wish I had just stayed with the original board. I'm so bummed. Steve Giblin
March 25, 201115 yr I have a B3 Deluxe with the 1305 bios and I just set up and OCd successfully. The basic authority I used was this thread. I have no expertise; I just followed that thread. Lots of people have posted their settings there.I used the software tools mentioned there too: RealTemp 3.6, IntelBurnTest v2.50, CPU-Z 1.57, (also for my AMD card CCC, MSI Afterburner and Kombustor), and lastly our own Bojote's online fsx.cfg tool."system does not rev up to speed" sounds like you don't have turbo enabled. (there are about three ways this could happen (numbered below))"I had a nice stable 4.8 ghz OC". What is it now?To reduce confusion I decided to work in the BIOS only and didn't use the in-Windows utility; if you have that installed (or didn't remove it completely) maybe it's overriding your BIOS settings. In particular, the power saving settings set to max turns off turbo I think. (1)But, when I got through setting up things according to that thread, and was happy with what I had learned and with how it was running, I reset my CMOS and went back to having as many things on Auto as possible. Here are the settings I retained for 4.8GHz (everything else on default or auto if memory serves):AI Overclock Tuner: ManualBLCK Freq: 100.00Turbo Ratio: Enabled (All Cores)By All Cores: 48Internal PLL OverVoltage: Disabled << otherwise it won't resume from sleepMem Freq: 1866 (2133 won't resume from sleep. This speed makes very little difference as others have posted here, 1-2%)EPU Power Saving: DisabledLoad Line Calibration: Regular <<CPU OverVoltage: Offset ModeCPU Offset: +.090 << trial and errorDRAM Voltage: (as specified by the manufacturer. Leaving this on Auto set my V too high)CPU Spread Spectrum: DisabledIntel SpeedStep: Enabled (2)CPU C1E, C3, C6: Enabled << (not Auto; 1305 turns these off when overclocked)Dram Timing: (all Auto except I entered the first five numbers my mem calls for at this speed (8 9 8 24 2N) because Auto set them too high)CPU Power Management: everything is left at default. (3)In USB Configuration I disabled legacy support. In Onboard Devices I disabled every feature I'm not using. Finally, I settled on a carefree 4.6GHz/1.27V/67C max. In my case I only had to change the multiplier and the offset (to .030).Good luck. Here is one more option for you: Clear your CMOS, install the in-Windows tool (TurboV Evo (part of AI Suite II)), and ask it for an auto overclock "Extreme". It worked "extremely" well in my case, setting the multiplier to 49 and the BLCK to 103!, but the volts/temps were too high for me. There's a button you can click to stop it on the way up, though, 4.5...4.6...4.7... etc.

March 25, 201115 yr You're welcome. I hope you see my edited post above if you need to.For anyone interested, using the CPU power consumption readout in the EPU module of AI Suite II, I recorded these numbers running IntelBurnTest (with LLC=Regular, HT off):(Warning your numbers will vary, etc.)Multiplier / Offset V / Temp / Power49 / .13 / 76C / 99W* (max CPU here is still below 1.4V (as reported, but it might spike above))48 / .09 / 74C / 89W 47 / .05 / (didn't record. it went over 70C)46 / .03 / 67C / 74W (Max CPU is only 1.272V here) < I choose this because I want to keep my fans low.45 / .01 / 65C / 73W(Warning your numbers will vary, etc.) For advise on what numbers are safe see the link I gave above.EDIT: Hyperthreading was off in my previous post too.
March 25, 201115 yr Author Thanks. I'll try removing Aisuite....by the way I don't seem to have Turbo V Evo in my Aisuite. Steve Giblin
March 25, 201115 yr I don't seem to have Turbo V Evo in my AisuiteHey, better not use the disk. (I can't remember exactly why.) Go to ASUS and download new stuff. I got *everything* fresh from there (except the 1305 BIOS itself). Fast moving scene...early adopter... :-)The AISuite II at ASUS... support... downloads... for the Sabertooth is 1.01.13. (For the Deluxe it's 1.01.14. It contains TurboV EVO 1.00.65)***I'm working on something FSX-relevant, having to do with stability under varying loads like FSX and IntelBurnTest. I'm testing it with FSXMark11. :-)
March 25, 201115 yr The disk contains the exact versions you list from the Asus update!Ah, the variety of dis/mis-information concerning our new toys...BTW, I overclock perfectly fine on the 1305 Bios, if I dare turn up the CPU voltage of course...
March 25, 201115 yr Author I've removed Ai Suite but have not yet tried to load FSX...It seems to me that the Ai Suite that comes with the Sabertooth is more of a monitoring program. Could the software be overriding my Bios settings? I'm at my wits end. The Bios is the only difference between the original board and the replacements. I'll try FSX without the Ai Suite software when I get home from work tonight and see what happens. Steve Giblin

Unless you specifically change something in AISuite, it wont over-ride any settings. I have to agree with 'querido' that it seems like you may have some bios settings set incorrectly. Please verify these specific settings below: (They can be found in the AI Tweaker section of the EFI BIOS)EPU Power Saving Mode - DisabledCPU POWER MANAGEMENT: >CPU Ratio - AutoEnhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology - Enabled (Very Important! Turbo Mode will not work if this isn't enabled!)Turbo Mode - Enabled I strongly think that this will fix your problem! You just need to print this page out, then restart and enter the bios and verify. Happy Flying! Edited March 25, 201115 yr by Efussander Ethan Rayhorn My Office: (Taken at FL410)
March 25, 201115 yr Here is another thing that I would recommend that you change in the BIOS: I would recommend changing Turbo Ratio = "Maximum Turbo Ratio Setting in BIOS" Then it will give you an option to set each core. Instead of setting 48 right away, it would be best to put in a lower number like 42-45.I'll walk you through it. So lets just say 45. You would then type 45 into each box. Then restart the computer and run CPU-Z available here. If you have your settings correct, it should show someting like this: (I adjusted my multiplier down from 48 to 45 so that our screens would be exact. I did forget to bring my BLK frequency back to 100, so it is not going to be exactly the same, but bare with me. ) Note how the CPU frequency is only 1.X GHz. This is because the system is idle.Alright, now start up Prime95 available here (If your running x64 OS). Run a torture test with default settings, and CPU-Z should look like this while the test is running: (Like I said above, I adjusted my multi to 45, but forgot to adjust my BLK frequency, so it is actually running at 4.6 in the picture, but you get the point.) Note how the CPU frequency has now increased to 4.6xx under load.To stop the torture test, go to File>Stop. Then after a few seconds, CPU-Z should read 1.X GHz again.Let me know if this fixes it!
