Re: NGX impending release: Are we there yet?

I know there is no real hardcoded limits on the software side that handles the plane systems and flight model
TrueWhen you see what A2A achieved with their engine system, it's quite impressive.Ben
Really?! Funny, the beta team wasn't notified.

Funny but not surprising, I hope this doesn't start a frenzy of the wrong kind of comments but I don't understand why PMDG staff remain adamant that they don't set deadlines and then go and say stuff like beta should start this week or next. Why say anything about it till it's actually reached that point. It's happened on a couple occasions regarding release dates, updates etc and I just think it serves no purpose to say anything about it if those deadlines aren't met. Talk about creating a rod for your own back. I appreciate the information provided etc but I only when its accurateMike kendall

To bad there is no HITS on the 737 family, it would have been awesome on the HUDBen

Oh yes, that would really be awesome. But if there's none in the real NGX then I don't want it in my simulated one.

Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!

"Now don't go planning any short-term vacations... You wouldn't want to miss release day! "That was over 2 weeks ago, I wonder what a "short-term vacations" is? I thought 1 week was a short vacation, 2 weeks a good vacation. Does a "short-term vacations" have a diffrenent meaning in the states?

David,Relax my friend. So many before you have tried to complain about this and I'm sure there is going to be many after you as well. Just learn this phrase "It is ready when it's ready" You will end up typing yourself to death and no one is going to listen to you anymore. The release of the NGX is closer that ever before so let's bite the bullet a while longer because the reward is going to be unbelievable.Enjoy the weekend!

Here, but no answer from PMDG, so I don't expect this kind of failure on the NGXThey are simulating aircraft system, not 100% accurately replicating it. Remember its a sub 100$ addon with limitations of FSX.I hope I'm wrongBen
How do you know its price? According to the things we know, even its manual are 300+USD, the whole product is at least 3000USD or even 10000USD for the complete set. Just guess :) What's more, this effect can not even be simulated in certified Level-D simulator. Actually, radio altimeter failure DOES NOT automatically cause auto-throttle commands RETARD mode. This is very rare and doesn't happen all the time.

Or basic humour. :(
I understand the humour behind it but there is little point in having the foggy option on the sign if it can't be read when its foggy :(

Being a software developer, I definately understand PMDG's situation. Yes, sometimes, a small problem would take you a whole day if you cannot find the solution. And sometimes, a little bit improvement need rewrite a lot of code (of course we're trying to avoid that by designing a good archetecteur, but sometimes we even want to improve our architecteur.)Well, so if the goal of PMDG is to be as good as they can do and not compromise anything, it's really going to take them a lot of time.Personally, in my career, I do compromise a little bit sometimes if the problem isn't that important.. I really need to learn from PMDG.

Manual at 300$, are so expensive because, made in USA "I think", with the royalties paid and it's a small series, maybe less than 3000 were made.In Thailand it would be around 150-200$ for one.
radio altimeter failure DOES NOT automatically cause auto-throttle commands RETARD mode.
That even more scary, since it's not a logical reaction but more random one.Ben

There's little point in having the sign at all. It's supposed to make you laugh.Apparently you didn't.
