Re: NGX impending release: Are we there yet?

Thanks for the vid! lol Their cockpit and flight crew reconstruction is pitifully inaccurate. They also make it sound like anyone could just hop on into the cockpit and fly because the pilot doesn't have to do anything. Argh....

+1I really like Mayday. The reconstruction of the events chain and explanations on how those events lead to the disaster is great, but the cockpit recontruction is really awful. The most real-like cockpit I can remember in the show was of that Swissair MD-11 that fell into the ocean near Halifax because of fire behind the CB panel, but it wasn't that great.

I love this TV series. But yes, the cockpits they show are really aweful. Have you seen the dokumentation about JAL123? It was a 747 (not sure which one though), and they showed the cockpit of a 737-200. As if the world would be silly. But at least the facts they give are presented in a very good way. Cheeck out this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9t3NJ_j25Z0&feature=relatedCurrently that's my most liked episode, but of cause all are great.

Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!

:( Really looking foward to the beta testing... I even dreamed about it yesterday... Am I mad?

I know it looks good, but seriously I really couldn't care for external visuals. Just a fully simulated aircraft will do me and PMDG always deliver on that front.
I agree 100% that we all want a maximally simulated aircraft as our #1 priority, so there may have to be unavoidable tradeoffs on externals. That said, PMDG wisely understand that visual quality of the external model adds "emotional" appeal and delivers a more realistic experience too. We often record and remember great sim flights with external screenshots - and if the externals ever looked cartoony it wouldn't be the same at all. And appetising external quality, being perhaps easiest to appreciate and validate before you buy, gives a strong signal about the likely quality of everything else on the plane. My small thought for the day! :(

ok don't attack me but will everything in the nix be modeled? In PMDG's other products not everything was modeled which was a shame :(Joe Barton

Unavoidable tradeoffs on externals? NOOOO way! We previewed one of the details which is the flap actuator mechanism that we previewed in the externalities post.:( Theres more but that's all we're telling ya...Cheers,

PMDG and its secrets. I know this thing of hidding features of the product is mostly about business, but c'mom, you like doing that to us don't you?

Did you model the occasional drip from the lavatory vent? :(

I recently watched Air Crash Investigation on Turkish Flight 1951. It was a 737-800. Basically can we expect the same level of detail and customisation in failures of the aircraft. Like in this crash. Basically Captain Radio Altimiter was faulty showing -8. On approach kept getting Gear Up warning because plane thought it was on ground. Around final, throttles went Retard, no-one noticed and they crashed. Thanks
Here, but no answer from PMDG, so I don't expect this kind of failure on the NGXThey are simulating aircraft system, not 100% accurately replicating it. Remember its a sub 100$ addon with limitations of FSX.I hope I'm wrongBen

I think you haven't seen the new version, Aircrash Confidential. They used an Airbus cockpit for the Boeing 777 ! :LMAO:Ben
And the beta phase will be announced as soon as the NGX actually enters beta. We are expecting it to happen this week.
Really?! Funny, the beta team wasn't notified.

They told a lot and I believe from what I read that this behavior could happened, of course not being in the secrets of gods I can't be sure, but reading how they would check wiring and everything from Boeing's blue print, that is the kind of things I believe to be possible, if it is correctly documented in Boeing's documentation, which it should. I think the only limitations of FSX they told us about was about the number of animations which they maxed out, as far as I know there is no real hardcoded limits on the software side that handles the plane systems and flight model, ... except those of the performance they want to achieve.
