[FS2004] - ISD Project - Rome - Fiumicino (FCO/LIRF) Problem

Featured Replies

Hello all, I’ve just recently installed ISD’s Rome Fiumicino International Airport (FCO/LIRF) for FS2004 and I have the following problem. When I loaded the scenery for the first time I noticed large amounts of weird ‘shapes’ with no textures on the perimeter of the airport (See attached Image). To add to the confusion, I also have the same issue with MXP (But no-where near the same scale as FCO). I’ve updated both airport’s AFCADs to the latest ones I can find on AVSIM.com and the issue still persists. If anyone could please point me in the right direction for removing these ‘shapes’ it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, EK433B77W.

Those shapes you're seing are most likely untextured 3d trees, so you must be missing some textures. There must be 156 bmp files in the texture folder and 115 bgls in the scenery folder.

G'day Arnaud,I did a quick count of the files in both the Texture and Scenery folder and I have 156 .bmp and 115 .bgl. Cheers,EK433B77W.

Not sure what's wrong then, I've just had a quick look, and the weird untextured shapes you're seing are indeed trees:lirf.jpgMake sure the scenery folder is above the landclass folder in your scenery.cfg, perhaps that's the problem.Taking about those italians scenery, it had been a while I tried to get rid of these orb red 3d lights on tops of roofs, these lights that make both Roma and Malpensa look likechristmas trees, even during daytimes. If anyone knows which files should be removed, I am a taker.

Arnaud,Still no luck. I've gone through the ReadMe.pdf to see if there was any additional files or textures that needed to be added via download in order for the tree textures to appear but there's nothing mentioned regarding 'trees' in the ReadMe. I also did a little looking in the Texture folder of the scenery, there's no file that indicates anything to do with 'trees', which I find really weird... I've re-installed the scenery twice and still get the same issue...?Cheers,EK433B77W.

G'day Jim, Followed your recommendations, and hey presto. It worked! :) Just a quick question, do you know how to remove the lights as stated by 'Arnaud'? As I'm not a fan of the lights either...Thanks guys for your help, I would have never been able to figure it out otherwise.Cheers,EK433B77W.

I never really paid any attention before, but a quick visit to LIRF and it was pretty clear which lights you're talking about :( . I messed with it for a few minutes, long enough to know that they aren't all in one .bgl. I think you'll find there's no way to get rid of the lights without getting rid of the supporting object as well (i.e. the ramp lights, the hangars with lights on them, etc). I managed to remove some of the lights from a couple hangars at LIRF, but unfortunately the hangars went with them. It may be possible to disassemble some .bgls, edit the source, and re-compile, but that's a pretty involved process. Sunglasses? Welding goggles? :smile:Jim

I was under the impression that this happens when two scenery's share some texture/scenery files of the same name. I'm sure someone will elaborate more on this with better details.

If you're referring to the lack of textures it commonly happens when scenery designers distribute copies of common object libraries with their scenery downloads but only include the associated textures for the objects they've actually placed in their sceneries. The sim can't load two identical GUIDs so when duplicate object libraries contain identical GUIDs only one of the libraries will be loaded. If this happens to be the one with the missing textures then objects in other sceneries (placed from the same object library) can show up untextured. This is not the problem however with the LIRF trees as they come from a proprietary object library. I think it has to do with an absolute rather than relative texture path defined in the model somehow (or api macro, or whatever it is). I don't know the answer, I went flying after I moved the textures.

I'm sure someone will elaborate more on this with better details
