No ATC sound in my FSX

Featured Replies

I have had this weird problem for a month : I can see and read the ATC text but cannot hear the sound. I have tried a few things to fix it but nothing has worked, mainly from the FSX\Options\Settings|sound menu.I also tried my Win& control Panel>Sound tabs. Nothing worked. My FS9 ATC sound is fine, however. I installed EDITVOICEPACK for FSX a week ago but this was well after the no-sound problem had started.Any help will be appreciated.Nick

You probably did this, but the first thing to check is that you have "Use Pilot Voice" checked in FSX Settings/General. Sometimes that gets turned off if you instal some products, although I don't think EVP does so.

Thanks DickB,By trial(s) and error(s) I fixed it with 2-3 mouse-clicks finally, easier than I thought, but not obvious at all. I opened the Sound icon at the task bar below on the right, right-clicking on it. Then I clicked on the sound icon and I then clicked on Playback devices. A new window opened and in the first tab (Playback) it showed me I had 3 playback devices:1. Speakers2. Headphones3. Digital Audio (HDMI).I then disabled the 1st, Speakers, and kept the other 2 enabled. Started FSX and I had normal sound, from the SPEAKERS. I was happy now, problem solved.I had unplugged my earphones a month ago, when I did some multiplayer flying, and at that time I had disabled the Speakers and enabled the Earphones ( I think), and that action had silenced my speakers like a fish good and proper in fsx--I had not the lightest clue why then...So names are not what they are, neither do words like ENABLED and DISABLED reflect the truth. I man running Windows 7, 32 bit. Curiously, my FS9 has kept all its ATC sounds intact and proper all along through this ordeal.I will make a proper post out of this, to help any guys who face similar problems. Some even went to the extent of doing a reinstall of their sim to fix this. Not needed! So then I went ahead and flew the flight you see in the videos listed below, with full ATC and an IFR plan. Great flight, great videos.Utube videos FOR FSX Mitsubishi MU-2 Marquise (PREMIER AIRCRAFT DESIGN model) FSX US Tour KRNO-KBOI Part 1 of 3-Departure
