Sidewinder Force Feedback Questions

Hey there fellow simmers! I'm sure this has been discussed at length, but I have not been online in a long time, and I need information on the FFB joystick so my wife can either buy it for me for Christmas, or not.I am running FS2004 on a Dell 2.53 system, 512 Ram. Any feedback is great to help my very supportive wife make a decision. If there is a thread somewhere else that would be more appropriate for me to consult, I would like that info as well. Hi!I am the proud owner of a MS FF2 joystick, and all I can say is that I wouldn't use anything else, I'm that happy with it! (I use to have the logitech, but this beats it to a pulp!James

jimbo fly, do you use windows xp? its just that i just got my ff2 and cant adjust the force feedback levels, but the drivers on the website apparantly only work with 95 and 98, fs2004 works with it but the feedback is very subtle, cheers, James

I got the MSSWFFB2 stick also. Can't say enough good about it. I've read that it has its own little processor so you should notice no hit on framerates. I don't see any difference from when it's plugged in or not. Works great in IL2FB and all my other sims and works OK in FS9. FS9 FFB is defined in the airfiles by design. Some airfiles are worthless in that the authors don't bother to set up the FFB in their designs. Some airfiles are great. I just find airfiles that work and use them. The alternative is to learn how to edit an airfile.

Im having problems with mine...it sometimes feels very loose and unrealistic.. i have FF and return to center tension on..what am i doing wrong?

HiI have a MS FF2 2 and its great strong forces, smooth movements instead of the "notchy" feel that I found in other FF sticks.Checkout out Russels site above and see what FF can really do in fs2004 Lets just say its night and day from the limp MS forces.CheersJohn

I have a FFB and had no problems with FS2002 however in FS2004 I have had some problems. Sometimes after flying for a while the frame rates would drop to zero on landing. I posted a question on the forum and it was suggested that I disable the force in the forcefeedback! It worked. I also have 512mb RAM; 128mb nVidia GE Force4; 2.2Pentium4I think it is a good joystick but a bit of a pain not to be able to use it as it was intended.Gerry

Dear James: Happy for you, although I have tried various sticks and in various computers, I agree with you. BUT, Ms. are some clowns. I'm told by support here in Denmark that the stick feels soft to the touch,(not like the sidewinder pro) Which I tried at my brothers' in UK.Yes one feel a little bit of forces, not like in flight simulator 2002, where it works flawlessly, you can definatelty feel the ground bumps and return to center tension. etc...etc.I just bought a new computer a f
