A GPS-500 pop up window for the SIMCHECK A300B4-200

Recommended Posts

Dear all I would like to ask for help or guidance regarding the above subject, although the plane is amazing in all aspects, it works with INS system only, but no ND in whatsoever,the way it was originally built 1972, I would like very much, to add a pup up window for the GPS-500 ( the use the GPS map), to be activated using SHIFT- (next available # probably 8), so it will pop up at both 2Dand VC, I will also drag it to my second display so I would have a map to look at, with no ND I feel like I am in the darke at certain stage of flight(departure and approach phases specially), where I have to be so much familiar with charts and calculating position all the time, unfortunately I don’t havemuch time for that always, I also want to make sure that the navigation source will be the INS and not the GPS. I went through many threads and researched the net, I couldn’t find solid information so any help will be highly appreciatedBest Regards Alaa Riad

Hi, Alaa.The Simcheck forums would have been a better place to post, Björn is a great dev and also very good on the support side. Always worth a post. :smile:Shouldn't be a big problem to add the GPS on the plane (looking at the panel.cfg file in SimObjects\Airplanes\SimCheck A300B4-200\Panel), but the [Window Titles] are already filled up to 16 windows, so one would have to move some of them around to enable a nice Shift+number popup as stated in your wish. Only works on the first ten windows.To get e. g. the GPS 500 to show, you'd have to add this whole entry anywhere in that panel.cfg file.

[WindowXX]size_mm=456,378window_size=0.5position=2BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0VISIBLE=0ident=GPS_PANELgauge00=fs9gps!gps_500,        	0,0

where this XX defines a free window number. As said, you may have to make room there for Shift+number to work.Also add

WindowXX=GPS

to the [Window Titles] section and you're good to go. Don't forget to replace XX with that number you've chosen.Make a backup of that panel.cfg file first and remember to look at the SimObjects\Airplanes\SimCheck A300B4-200\Panel.pax folder too as it contains the file for the passenger model.So same work there and make a backup there too.

Since the window assignments are pretty full in the panel.cfg, I just added the GPS 295 to the comm window like this:[Window08]file=com_panel.bmp file_1024=com_panel.bmp size_mm=1097,1048window_size_ratio=1.000 position=0visible=0ident=10003window_size= 0.590, 0.810window_pos= 0.240, 0.180zorder=6gauge00=BC_A300!BC_A300_BACKCOM, 0,0,1097gauge01=BC_A300!BC_A300_COM1, 13,10,348gauge02=BC_A300!BC_A300_COM2, 739,11,348gauge03=BC_A300!BC_A300_ADF, 739,456,350gauge04=BC_A300!BC_A300_COMPANEL, 13,171,349gauge05=BC_A300!BC_A300_RUDRIM, 429,735,237,237gauge06=BC_A300!BC_A300_AILTIM, 459,1016,180,20gauge07=BC_A300!BC_A300_COMPANEL, 739,171,349gauge08=BC_A300!BC_A300_XPDR, 374,9,354gauge09=BC_A300!BC_A300_LIGHTINTENS, 9,616,355gauge10=fs9gps!gps_295, 735,790,355,224I still use the INS, but the GPS window provides me with en route info and helps me set up approaches.Lee

Lets combine the stuff for him. Your solution, but with GPS500.by the way, Björn stated somewhere that the next thing will be an FMC A300. Nice to have both variants then, INS (I like the Civa) and the modern way on that classic plane.

Hello Lee and CoolPI have a question regarding first option is the XX is the following # at the panel.cfg @ panel folder ? so it should be [Window18] since the last one at the file is 17 ? and how about the XX WindowXX=GPS number and where to place it ?For the second option I added the line (gauge10=fs9gps!gps_295, 735,790,355,224) to [Window8] and no GPS window showed at Comm, panel ?I am sorry I feel it must be a mistake I am doing ?ThanksAlaa Riad

Exactly.how about the XX WindowXX=GPS number and where to place it. Same number, place it in the [Window Titles] section of the panel.cfg.Here's some useful read about the whole panel.cfg thingy. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc526956.aspx
