Opinions on CH Yoke and Pedals

Recommended Posts

My Microsoft Sidewinder recently stopped working completely, so I was forced to purchase another. I wasn't able to fine one here in town, so iI bought a Saitek X45 and Logitech 3D Pro. I took the Saitek back because the rudder was too difficult to control and it wouldn't save setting in MSFS. I'm also considering taking back the Logitech. My problem now it whether I should buy another MS stick online or get the CH products. My Microsoft was never a problem with either FS8 or 9. What is the overall opinion on the CH yoke and pedals versus other contollers? Do they have more problems with calibration and settings, or would they be about the same?I just want some honest opinions since they cost so much more. I do want them because they are a realistic controller for MSFS.

I have the CH yoke and pedals and highly recommend them. I've had them for about a year now and can't imagine going back to the joystick. I've had not trouble with them at all so far. The only time I have to recalibrate them is if I disconnect them and the reconnect them in a different usb port.KP

I have been happy with my CH yoke overall. The only problem I have had is that the yoke gets "sticky" and have yet to find a good way of keeping it lubed. I have read posts about people taking theirs apart to clean but it sounds kind of like a pain. Thats really my only complaint and I still recommend it. Brew

Thanks for the replies! I will probably go ahead and get them. I especially like the seperate rudder controls. Having the rudder on the stick is a pain.Chris

ChrisI have had both the (older) gameport ProPedals and Yoke for some years now, and have been extremely pleased with them. Never had any real problem with calibration, in fact the only problem is the limitation on axes, meaning that I can't have brakes.I would have liked to upgrade to the USB versions, but I need a better graphics card first. Hope this helps.David

David,If you can get hold of a Gamesport-to-USB adaptor you can configure the system for toe brakes. I've done this with my gamesport yoke with great success. Details available if you're interested.Alastair

My CH Yoke and Pedals USB have been working perfectly in Windows XP Pro since I obtained them about a year ago, so I am very happy with them. Roland

The grease added a smooth friction that felt more "weightier".You should be able to get silicon grease from any electronic hobbyist shop or else over the internet.Hope this helps,Chris Kirk

That's probably the only real "problem" I've had if you want to call it a problem. I'll give it a try. Thanks again!KP

I have had CH-Products pedals and yoke for a couple of years now and I would not be without them. They work well and require little maintenance - I actually use lithium grease to lubricate the shaft. One major selling point for you would be their support. On the very few occasions that I have had to contact them they have been prompt, polite and have solved the problem. My latest contact was just recently. The screws that lock the yoke to the desk had worn out (through overuse). I contacted CH-Products support and spoke to (via email) a gentleman by the name of Michael (I'll leave his last name out). He was extremely helpful and we corresponded over a few days. Once we had determined the cause of the problem he sent me replacement screws and the plastic clamps that go on the bottom at no charge. Now you may be thinking so what, doesn't cost much to do that. Consider this, I am in Australia and Michael is in California. They were sent airmail at no cost to me.So my opinion of CH Products is this1. Yes they make a good product; and2. They have excellent support. What more could you want.--qnh

AlastairThanks for your suggestion about converting gameport to USB. Yes, I would like your advice. I seem to remember this being discussed many moons ago, but can't find the thread.David

I used the Sidewinder many years ago - after switching to the yoke and pedals, I could never go back! CH makes very good products. I currently have the USB yoke, pedals, and Fighterstick. I worried about problems when connecting both a yoke and a joystick on the same machine - but they work perfectly in FS... no conflicts! I can't wait for their throttle quadrant! CH is the way to go.Regards,Marc
