Today I sat on the eastside of KBFI(Boeing Field) and watched AC making their finals for 16R at KSEA which is about 5 mile away. I had my scanner with me and heard three Captians state they were using AUTOLAND feature...this call was made at about 9 miles out.Watching the AC come in I noticed somthing that is contrary to the profile that ACs have in FS2002 and FS9. What I noticed is the real AC that used AUTOLAND noses were pointed downward and in MSFS the noses are always slightly upward in a pre-flared state even as far out as 10 miles away and the amount of speed doesnt change that nor trim.Has anyone else noticed this as well or is it just me....is this a error in MSFS it doesnt seem to matter if its default or payware AC.Regards

huh...I dont know the answer to your question. But why in the world would they announce an autoland sequence??

Maybe they were just feeling tired and lazy to do it themselves :(PS. In my FS2004 the nose is actually pointed down...I remember I always disengaged this right before touching down because I was scared it wouldn't flare. Well one day I didn't it and it did flare...I don't know I see the nose down on my flight sim. But you are right the speed never changed on the sim.

As for announcing autolands....Based on other posts, I believe pilots performing an autoland must announce/request it from ATC because planes holding short of the runway need to stop at a different line a bit further from the runway when there's an aircraft performing an autoland....

As for announcing autolands....ATC need to know when an aircraft will be using full autoland for this simple reason...Aircraft using full autoland tend to remain on the runway longer than those not using autoland. Separation between aircraft will have to be slightly altered to accomodate the extra time on the runway.:-beerchugChris

All vehicle needs to stay clear of the LOC and Glide Path signal antennas, that why pilots announce this on the freq. So that the Tower (and ground) manage to stear planes and ground vehicle clear of the signals.
