May 18, 201115 yr I better log off from AVSIM and disconnect from the Internet because all those bad people are after my useless files on my computer.LOL. I bet I have more useless files than you Jim. The "bad guys" can have them all!Jeez. Calm down guys. There is some shocking ignorance going round here. Stop with all the nonsense about torrents!Torrent is a delivery system, nothing more. It's like making a conference call. If you are only d/l some nice tulip scenery from the devs site you are only sharing it with other d/lers of that same file. They cannot get "into your machine". They cannot "steal your CC details"; there is no malware on that d/l. it is from trusted devs. Imagine the scandal if there was. No dev would risk that. Torrent does not=malware. I'd get all techie on your asses, but that wikipedia article is good, then there's so many preconceived ideas bounding around they won't be bothered to read it and nor can I be bothered to explain any further :) Wise up people. Stop talking rubbish and LEARN A BIT.Final thought: 100% of killer drivers drive. Does that stop you doing it? JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
May 18, 201115 yr HelloWe had all better log off and shut down then if the cybercrime guys are after us :(Even that isn't far enough, my bank has all my details online, if that's compromised I'm sunk. Also be mindful of where you throw away your trash. Major crime organisations are now prowling the streets at night looking through trash bins for your information.(nothing said above was at all serious)
May 18, 201115 yr Aside from the question of whether bittorrent represents a bigger security risk than some other protocols or software, there does seem to be increasing need to seed as well as download. Before you do that you should probably check on any policy your ISP has, because some are known to be hostile to customers seeding BT. Of course, it is in the interest of some entities to spread the meme that BT = pirate. We're not talking TPB here, which was last year's news anyway.scott s..
May 19, 201115 yr Personally I would NEVER go near a torrent download. They are used by pirates and open access to your machine for anyone who has nefarious intentions. I actually can't believe that anyone providing downloads for FS would direct their users to a torrent, period. That is one of the funniest things I've read on this forum in a long while.Sigh... May 19, 201115 yr After reading this thread, and since I am aware that pirates sometimes put things on CDs and DVDs, I have now destroyed all the DVDs and CDs in my collection, and just to be on the safe side, I also destroyed all my VHS tapes, vinyl records, and I burned all the books I had too. Take that, you pirates.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
