What's the "bug status" of the CS757?

Featured Replies

I have been flying the QW757 lately, but I have encountered some annoying problems, plus that it'd be nice to have some more control over all of the systems. Before I install the CS757 anew however, I would like to know how many problems this aircraft still has and what the FPS hit is in comparison to the QW757. Note that I'll probably use it mostly to fly American Airlines routes around the Caribbean and maybe some Finnair flights in Scandinavia, so I don't expect to fly into the busiest of places, except for KMIA and KFLL.

The best place to look for that status is here. http://www.captainsim.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?board=757fsxThey are on the 4.5 release, which is stated here and also collects the 4.4 issues. http://www.captainsim.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1288986636I'm using her quite often and I'm happy with the system and fps so far. You may look up those forums/threads for any show stoppers though since personal preferences are different. I've found the QW to be a good thing, but too light for me, especially on the FMC.

Wow, there's a long list... I think I might postpone installing her until the next update. Most of it seems fairly minor to me to be honest, but if they do release an update in the near future, I'd rather wait for it instead of installing it now and updating later.

I'm awaiting the 4.5 release too. It could well be that the 777 and 737 actions actually lead to the delay there. As I feel in love with all the steam gauge planes, the 737-100 would even be better than a 4.5 757 for me though.

Yup, the old banger CS 737 is the one I'm really waiting for now more than anything else so I can finally park all my crappy Aerosim merges in the boneyard LOL.Al

I will throw in the INS (realistic or not) and go to e. g. that new GEX Africa (currently installing). Yeah!

Indeed! I personally can't wait to take a CS737-200 in Aerosur into the air and fly from La Paz to Sucre, Bolivia. That's one crazy approach!

Got one more question. The CS767 saves the panel when you save the flight, so that you can easily stop the flight in the middle and continue later on. I was wondering if the 757 has this too? I like having the ability to save a flight in mid-air, just to know that when FSX crashes for some reason I don't have to start all over again.

CS is always lack in details..... My 763's nose gear is always hanging in the air after lift off and they still haven't fix it until now. In their 757, the fuel consumption rate is completely nonsense( 763 as well), even more efficient then my friend's 738 when we are flying VA...Applause.gif But considering I got them on sale, they are good enough products overall if you have time to tweak then a little.blush.gifThey do have the potential to make their products much much better, but they never do!!Hmmmph.gif

I disagree with you.The nosegear issues you describe I do not have. The fuel consumption rate can be better, but the overall picture is that of a very good aircraft , with many systems working and a very detailed looking interior and exterior.Several Reviews gave the 767 a very high rate. The Rock and Roll issues that people have reported I never had , neither with the 757 nor with the 767.CS found out that it is being caused by the interaction between their data and that from FSUIPC.The way the aircraft, FSUIPC and Windows have been installed seam very important. They are working on updates for both 757 and 767 to get them to work without the use of FSUIPC.Their 777 will akso not be using FSUIPC.So they are indeed working to make their products better.

Thanks for the additional responses, but I'll ask again, sicne this is a much mroe important feature to me: does the CS757 save panel states upon saving the flight? The CS767 does it, so I'm hopinh the 757 does it too.Concerning fuel burn, I actually don't really care. Sure, I like my planes to be as realistic as possible, but truth be told, I would have no idea if fuel burn is correct or incorrect unless somebody told me. I'm no 757 pilot, so I can't even judge the FDE of the CS757. All I want is a reliable A/P, A/T and lots of buttons to press, because I can't judge anything else. Well yes, I can judge the exterior and interior modeling, maybe the sounds, but that's where it ends. True, I don't take the trouble to look at Boeing's 757 manuals, heck, I don't even look at the manuals provided by Captain Sim, so there is no wayfor me to discover these inaccuracies. Point is, if the plane takes me from A to B and does so without plummeting out of the air (like the Aerosoft Airbus X on landing) and performing fairly well at all phases of flight, then I have no reason to complain about it.

Yes the CS757, does save panel state when you save a flight. I've used it in the past and it works quite well, you just have to engage the Autopilot after it loads and it picks up where it was nicely. I too think the CS757 has gotten a bad rap. In the beginning they did deserve it, they had poor support and communication with it's customers. To me it always seemed more from a different cultural background then intentional arrogance, but that was how it appeared to many. They mostly did do what they promised they would do, but it took them years to do it, at least or FSX. I know some for FS2004 were never realized, but from a business perspective I could understand that, as FSX was the new kid on the block. For example the promise of systems for it's Block B 757. It took them more then 2 years, but they did produce it. At some point a metamorphosis took place, and they considerably improved their support, and updates to their addon's are more timely. While I don't use the 767 too often, I do fly the 757, and I think she handles quite well. For the most part system wise, she is more detailed then even the LDS or PMDG. Now before everyone jumps on me let me explain what I mean. On the CS757, just about every button and knob are selectable and with few (non critical) exceptions functions as expected. Not even the Queen of the sky PMDG 744 can boast that. Even some knobs on the main panel are non functional, same for the LDS-767. Functions you wouldn't expect like the cockpit door work. Lock it on the CS757 and try and open it. Now try that on the PMDG744. It also has a functioning tiller, granted it's still linked to the rudders, but that's more a limitation of FS then a problem with the model. At least though if one wants to use it to steer on the ground using the mouse they can. The one system area I think needs improvement on is it's night lighting. It's better then many addons but not as good as the best like PMDG or LDS. All this being said, I still think the PMDG and LDS are still better, as their systems seemed more refined.

Thanks

I'm hoping captain sim sort this aircraft out. I bought it years back and haven't managed to fly it properly due to stupid bugs.

Thanks for the detailed post! I'm happy to hear it saves panel states - that's one of those things I need to have on e a plane. I agree with you, too. CS has definitely stepped up their game and are now much more friendly and reliable than they were before, and I think you are right on the cultural differences. Russia is a completely different world than the US and mentalities collide because of that. Since the 757, they have produced some remarkable aircraft, like the 707 and 727. I will reinstall the 757, but just not yet. I'll wait for the 4.5 update. At least, if it doesn't take too long. I miss the 757. It's unbelievable how much that aircraft is still used in America. And yes, I will probably stop flying the QW for now. I love that plane, but due to problems with A/T and a CTD that I can't explain at latinVFR's MGGT, it has become unreliable (the CTD did not happen with my always trustworthy LDS767. Say what you want about it, that's outdated and all that, but it always works. No matter what I throw at it, the LDS767 ALWAYS works).I think I know enough now. Thanks for your posts!EDIT: nice video by the way! See, this is something I always liked about CS planes: the option to add in your own recordings and maps and such.

Let me add that saving a panel stated works , but not when using a Fp with the FMC.At least I have not succeeded in that.Flying on the AP By hand can be saved.
