Samuli's MD80 Panel Manual

Recommended Posts

Anyone know of a manual to use for Samuli's great MD80 panel? I have used Paul Golding's panel in FS2002, but Samuli's panel appears to be another step towards realism. Thanks!Airbus

Hey Airbus,The site is http://ss-md80.artshost.com in case you didn't know and as Bob said the manual will be available soon. While I got you on the hook, did you install for 2002 or 2004? I use FS2004 exclusively and don't have a FS2002 folder. I've never heard of installing a gaugesound.dll file in WindowsSystem32 folder. Anyway, the panel crashes back to desktop everytime. I even put the file in the main FS2004 folder and it still crashes. Can you help me out on this as the author has not yet answered my e-mail?Thanks,

I wrote to him asking a couple of questions and he relied immediately with answers. He's working on the manual and it'll be ready when it's ready.I use the panel in FS2K2..works great for me!Gavin

Ilove this panel for its complexity, bt Ican never start the engines, even with all fuel switches on and all electrics on, the start sitches don't seem to work, I end up using j+ key combo. this can't be right with such a detailed panel. Cheers!

I installed to FS2004 with no problems. I ran the executable I downloaded from the site. I believe it was the v1.01FS9 file. I also checked my windowssystem32 folder and there was no gaugesound.dll file installed there. It appears that for some installations this file may be necessary, but I am not sure what it does. I am waiting on the manual before I try things out.Airbus

Michael,I had to pull out a DC9-80 AOM to figure out the APU and engine start sequences on Samuli's awesome panel .. really another step up the realism ladder. You have to have the APU running first. Then, quoting the relevant stuff here from the AOM:"Battery Start"CSD DISC Switches NORMALL & R Gen switches RESET/ONAC/DC Bus X-tie Switches OPEN/OPENFuel levers OFFFuel X-feed offCabin Alt Control ... AUTO/VALVE Open (not sure if this is modeled)Pneumatic Crossfeed Levers OPEN (this was my big issue, these two levers on the bottom of the pedestal to the left and right of the rudder trim wheel, must open to provide APU bleed air to the engines for air starting ...)Emergency-Power Switch ON (Again .. who'd have thought?)Anti Collision light ONCheck Pneumatic pressure for sufficient bleed air pressureSTART Pump switch ONRight Engine STARTObserve N2 to 15-20% Fuel onCheck Oil Pressure, EGT for temp rise, N1 for rotationwhen stable ... START Switch offRepeat for LEFTwhen both stable:EMERGENCY Power OFFAC BUS X-TIE switch AUTOFUEL PUMP Switches ... AS DESIREDSTART PUMP ... OFFMany Many congratulations to Samuli for this awesome panel ... I am running in FS9.Hope this helps.

That's excellent information Paul.I've got a related problem. On takeoff I am getting the configuration warning 'SPOILERS' and 'FLAPS' with the spoilers stowed and the flaps set. I've noticed that the flap lever goes straight to full down regardless of the flaps I have set (only the lever, not the actual flaps).Any ideas?
