Reality XP GNS 430W XP

Recommended Posts

Hi,I just got the Reality XP GNS 430W XP. It's great. I was also considering getting the GNS 530 WAAS version ($50 USD) to tag along. I notice that the "Ultimate" version allows for linking and 2 licenses one each for GNS 430 and GNS 530 and linking between units($99 USD). Does anybody have any expertise with the Ultimate edition, versus stand alone 430 + 530? Not sure if it's worth putting $150 in GPS or not. Thanks,BB

It all depends on how many planes you are going to install the GPS in.. and if you value havingthe crossfill option to link two GPS units - which comes with the Unlimited pack..Option 1: 430 only ($50).. it fits in most planesOption 2: 530 only ($50).. it fits in those planes that have a double height slot available, and it has a bigger screenOption 3: 430 and unlimited pack.. ($150) works well in the Baron and other planes that have dual 430s in the panelOption 4: 430 and 530 and unlimited pack.. ($200) all combinations work, including a 530/430 stack in the Turbo Duke

I have had the 430 and the 530 for quite a while. The combination gives a lot of flexibility - usually at least one of them will fit in an addon aircraft - and I consider that money very well spent.I don't have the "ultimate" version - another $100 is a bit too much for me - so I don't have crossfil, but it isn't much of a problem. On a short flight I usually leave one of the GPSs on the "terrain" page (without an active flight plan), on longer flights I have plenty of time to enter the route in the second GPS once I'm airborne.

Bert and Trianger,I have the GNS 430, works great. I bought the ultimate version yesterday, it doesn't work at all. Guages are corrupt in default aircraft. I've tried every install method possible (20+ tries), no virus, UAC, etc.etc.etc. over the weekend. I guess I'll need to contact Flight1 for a refund or GNS530 only.Below is the corrupted GNS 530 of the ultimate version in Default Mooney. Thanks for the help,BB

Bert, Or anyone...Where do I find the rxpgns.ini file?
That one is usually placed in the corresponding aircraft folder, so \SimObjects\Airplanes\Carenado BONANZA F33A for the Bonanza for example. The RXP setup tools places and expects it there, so you could edit it manually or use the tool, as you like.
