PMDG products - commercial vs military

Hi guysJust wondering if someone from PMDG could answer this. So far, we have seen only commercial aircraft coming out of the PMDG workshop and I was wondering if - given the partnership between PMDG and Boeing - we will see any military aircraft from PMDG such as the C-17 for example? It would be nice to see a PMDG-level simulation of this fantastic aircraft instead of only commercial airliners. Just my opinion, but I hope someone from PMDG can give us an answer.

Very unlikely, there's just not a large enough market for this to justify the expense and time when there's a commercial product we could do that has a much higher demand.

Fair enough. I think a PMDG C-17 would sell like hotcakes, but thanks for the quick reply Ryan.

That's also not mentioning that the likes of the military would probably not take so kindly to reproductions of their aircraft floating around, to any degree of accuracy.

I don't think it's really that unless the airplane is classified... look at DCS A-10C. It's a nearly perfect simulation of the real thing.

Good point. I just based that off of the fact that I'm going into a mil facility (I'll leave it unnamed) on Friday to teach a class, and all I'm allowed to bring in is the clothes on my back and an ID. Nothing electronic can come in. The books were shipped ahead for inspection. I've just always gotten the impression that the military likes to keep information secure....then again, the place I'm going to contains more information than 'simple', unclassified aircraft stuff.

The stuff that would be classified is mostly stuff PMDG wouldn't model anyway (Radar Reflectivity, Absolute Radar Range and performance, weapons modelling, etc...) as it would be useless in FSX or FS9

Funny that. I had to stay overnight on RAF Brize Norton some time ago. Given that Brize is the airbase where foreign dignitaries and politicians arrive in the UK when on official visits, I thought they'd want all kinds of security info off me before I would even be let in. I expected them to open up my car and search it too and possibly even get mirrors under the sills etc. In fact they didn't even open the boot, my car was initially left at a car park near the entrance, but I did drive it into the base itself later that evening.To my surprise, the security procedures consisted of nothing more than me being given a crappy photocopied pass, which frankly, looked like something you'd get to allow you back into the school disco. I was not searched at all, and I had a pretty large bag with me. The only thing I can think of that excuses such crappy security is that on that occasion I was visiting a friend who was in base housing since he was at the time in the RAF, and it was probably assumed that since I had a buddy on the base, I must therefore be okay, which of course was true, but then again, the people on guard duty could not know that for sure, so to me that seems a dangerous assumption to make.Al
