It's not unknown for problems to occur in those circumstances. Probably the most well known incidence of that occurring with FS add-on aeroplanes is PSS.Al

Alan Bradbury

Yes, unless the developer programmed a patch to remove the activation.

Also, does anyone know the legal aspects of scenery where a developer goes bankrupt or out of business and they have custom objects as part of their sceneries. Can a user, who bought the scenery, who might have been restricted before, freely use any of the custom objects that were created for the scenery. Also, for instance just compile library bgls which do not actually distribute the objects but just point and call upon their location from inside the original scenery. Hopefully I am making myself clear.

The legal dependency is rather simple. If you have bought that product, you are free to use it. That means for your personal use and without any distribution involved. The use itself is in no enforceable way bound to the way of activating it, a lawsuit just focuses on the fact if you are a valid customer ("bought the product") of the thing or not ("did not buy the thing"), regardless of any EULA wishes or activation servers being reachable or not.You can also modify the software on your system, for your use and without any distribution involved. Modifying does not involve to e. g. turn Windows Home into Ultimate (you've only bought "Home", therefore you have no right to use "Ultimate" which is regarded as another product there, one which you didn't pay for).So if you buy scenery from dev A and one from dev B and would like to see the buildings from A in your B scenery, modify it and be happy.Don't distribute this new product and make sure that only you (the valid customer of both things) use it and there's not a legal concern at all.Not all devs will be happy about promoting such modifications to their products, so it's a fair behaviour to either ask for it or leave the case rest in silence and enjoy your very personal "new" product then.

That all sounds reasonable.
