FS Earth Tiles

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,I was reading through the forums and was doing some research about how to update your map services in FS Earth Tiles (which I did)...but for some reason google maps refuses to show up. This is an excerpt of how my .ini file looks like as of right now:===================================================================================================================#--- Services Configuration --- # you can add up to 9 Services entries [service1]ServiceCodeing = qrtsServiceUrl = http://khm0.google.com/kh?t=t%s&n=404&v=86'>http://khm0.google.com/kh?t=t%s&n=404&v=86 #you need to replace the * with a service base url (universal map version v=1000)#Referer = http://khm0.google.com #optional, you can try with and without this to establish a connection#UserAgent = Mozilla/4.0 #optional, alternatives: MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.0; or any fictional nameServerVariations = khm0,khm1,khm2,khm3 [service2] ServiceCodeing = 0123 ServiceUrl = http://ecn.t1.tiles.virtualearth.net/tiles/a%s.jpeg?g=488&mkt=en-us&n=z #Referer = http://a1.ortho.tiles.virtualearth.net #optional (older versions g=104, g=52) #UserAgent = Mozilla/4.0 #optional ServerVariations = ecn.t0,ecn.t1,ecn.t2,ecn.t3 [service3] ServiceCodeing = xyz ServiceUrl = http://maps3.yimg.com/ae/ximg?v=1.9&t=a&s=256&.intl=en&%s #Referer = http://us.maps3.yimg.com/ # (old versions v=1.7, v=1.5) #UserAgent = Mozilla/4.0[ProxyList] #if you want to use proxies (web/http) add them heredirect #use the word "direct" in the List to mark a connection without Proxy#127.0.0.1:8118 #local proxy (example for TOR net) #130.149.49.26:3124 #external proxy example#direct #you may enter the same Proxies more than one time in this list if you like#132.239.17.224:68664 #Use the next button to change cycle throughthe proxy list manualy. Very simple : Open with another service. Than click on "www" at the bottom at the right. A smalll windows opens. Leave it open. Now choose Service 1.( The windows tricks Gxxgle and makes it think that you are using their programm )Works for me and I use the same settings as you.

Has anyone been succesful in finding correct KML files where the coastline is being followed? It would help us because now we have to follow the coastline by hand to make a correct coast polygon. I've done a lot of the EU scenery by now, but those coastlines are so timeconsuming :(PS sorry that I 'hyjacked' your thread.

Haven't really looked into this myself but is this of any help: Build Google maps polylines and polygons from templates ?

I know that site but's it's too crude for a coastline to be used for a decent FSET scenery.

Ahhh...OK. I ran across it once and bookmarked it but never really looked to see how fine the coastlines could be marked. I had already stopped using KML files for coastlines by then.Rich

Yeah, well...yesterday I spend >2hours getting a decent coastline KML file to be used for FSET....takes way too much time and it'd be nice if there was some way to get it done automatically.

You could try http://www.gadm.org, they provide SHP and KMZ files.I create coastlines in SBuilderX rather than use the FSET KML procedure.George

Hi George,Thanks for the link! It makes life a bit more easy this way :) It seems to work however...in FSET I had to create path for the co-called deepwater boundry where it would blend into the default FS background. For some reason that doesn't work anymore. Anybody has any idea how to fix that?EDIT: it might be my Google Earth version so I'll check that first.GE is okay, but still no blend :(

Stupid question...but I notice that the website provides KMZ files. You are exporting those out of GE as KML for use in FSET, aren't you? Just making sure it's not a simple oversight that's causing the issue. I've had more than my share of them over the years...Rich

Yes, I export them as KMZ files, import them in GE and save them there as KML files. For som reason FSET soesn't recognize the polygon as a 'coast' which is needed in FSET. If it edit the KML file to make it a path instead of a polygon, the same happens. I was so hoping this would do the trick to get coastlines more easy instead of making them myself which cost so much (too much) time :(

That's too bad. I was hoping it was something simple like that. Unfortunately all I have are dim distant memories of GE, KML, and how they apply to FSET. So, assuming you're naming the lines and/or polygons correctly, I'm not much help.Rich

Hi Rich,Well... I've taken a look at sbuilderx and decided to give it a go. I downloaded an ESRI file of Aruba, and appended it in sbx. However... What do I do next? I tried to find some manuals but I don't find them really helpfull. I somehow need to create layers but I can't seem to get it done.full.jpgfull.jpgIs it possible you write an easy guide with the next steps I need to take? Thanks!

Sorry, Eric, but I'm not the one to ask. I've never used SBuilderX for that. GHD is the person who said that he used it to create coastlines. If I knew, I'd be more than happy to help.Rich
