Quizes

Hello Everybody,So while we wait for the NGX to be released, lets separate the men from the boys (or the engineers from the pilots.) I have decided to start a quiz thread similar to what they are doing at FSL for their Scarebus.... I want to see how many of you have studied your manuals ;) Then again, this might keep some people busy and surely stop the constant whining 'are we there yet?' style posts. Oh and.... I might actually learn something new!So drumroll please...... Question 1: As Ryan mentioned: "Does anyone know what a BYPASS prompt above a waypoint on the LEGS page means in terms of what's actually happening to the flight path?" Well.... does anyone know what it means? Hint... Its in Vol 2 of the FCOM. Question 2: What added functionality does FMC update 11 bring? Hint: There are 17. Question 3: Is the pneumatic isolation valve AC or DC operated? Hint: Just choose one.If you have any clever FCOM related quiz questions or anything you have seen on your type rating you want to introduce to everyone, feel free to add questions.... I only put 3 random ones since I am hoping more of you have questions. MJ O'Donnell

Question 1: As Ryan mentioned: "Does anyone know what a BYPASS prompt above a waypoint on the LEGS page means in terms of what's actually happening to the flight path?" Well.... does anyone know what it means? Hint... Its in Vol 2 of the FCOM.The FMC has analyzed if it wishes to proceed to destination. It takes all considerations into effect like weather, location of destination, etc and if it doesn't feel like landing at destination the message BYPASS is revealed in which pilots must proceed to alternate in hopes of a better overnight. Question 2: What added functionality does FMC update 11 bring? Hint: There are 17.Enables pilots once again to say "What the heck is the autopilot doing now? Oh yeah, new software".....is one of the new and reoccuring features. Question 3: Is the pneumatic isolation valve AC or DC operated? Hint: Just choose one.Yes, its is either AC or DC operatedIf you have any clever FCOM related quiz questions or anything you have seen on your type rating you want to introduce to everyone, feel free to add questions.... Sorry, just had to have some fun with it. In all seriousness I will let the readers start digging away in their manuals.JackColwill

Isolation valve is AC operated, and bypass is shown when the aircraft can make the turn to the next waypoint (to close together or steep turn) it bypasses that waypoint.Question about fmc I dont know.More interesting when does the isolation valve close and why?
