FSUIPC

Recommended Posts

After a long time using FSUIPC w/o problems it has stopped working and I can't see any apparent fix.The problem: Start FS9, click "Modules/FSUIPC" in order to do joystick calibration, and the screen turns black and locks up. No response to keyboard, mouse, or yoke/pedals. FS9 has to be killed manually w/task manager.Using FS9 with FSUIPC 3.9.9.1 (registered copy) & 737PIC. I reinstalled FSUIPC and checked for video card driver updates (NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT - most recent drivers already installed).Has anyone seen this before? I don't know what else to do short of complete reinstall of FS9. Thanks for any help.

Hard to say what happened.Anyway the latest version is 3.997b, so try to install it and see:http://fsuipc.simfli...FSUIPC3997b.zipRemember you have to install 3.99 first (the full installer) and only then replace the fsuipc.dll module with the latest from my link.

If you are running VISTA or Win 7 32/64 make sure you run the fsuipc installer by right clicking on it to run as admin. When FS hangs can you alt-tab to see if there are any error messages underneath its window? Any difference if you activate the FSUIPC gui with FS in windowed mode? Any difference if you have another aircraft loaded? The full install page is http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html . The support site is http://forum.simflight.com/forum/30-fsuipc-support-pete-dowson-modules/ . Check the main page and http://forum.simflight.com/forum/142-download-links/ for any postings regarding this. I'd also look at the release notes for the latest version at http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/ scrolling down to that section on that page. While this is recent and if you are on VISTA or Win 7 32/64 try running FS with a shortcut to it with the shortcut advanced properties set to run as admin at the program level. There was an interim update I recall that mentioned something about Windows security issues in VISTA and Win 7 so that latest version (or later) that Rafal mentioned might cure your problem.

This sounds more of a video card issue than a problem with FSUIPC. Does it make a difference in windowed versus full screen mode ? Try rolling back the driver.I have to use windowed mode with FS9 to avoid issues. Also right click the FS9.exe and select "disable desktop composition" and "disable visual themes"... this will help if you are using vista/Win7

Thanks for the replies. I should have stated this, but I am using Windows Vista. Looking at other forums, it looks like this is an issue with the video card and/or drivers and not FSUIPC. I tried running FS in windowed mode and FSUIPC works fine; when running in full screen mode, accessing FSUIPC causes FS to lock up. At least as of yesterday. I don't know why I was able to access FSUIPC from FS full screen mode w/o any problems for a long time (i.e. years) and it just stopped working yesterday without anything else changing, but it happened. Maybe Vista installed some update in the background that somehow affected FS & FSUIPC. Regardless, I guess I just have to remember to change to windowed mode before I access FSUIPC until it's time for a new PC & new operating system.

Yes. Only a major revision number (prior to the decimal) would be a new fee for registration.Whether you have a paid registration or an application that registers itself the update process is the same. If you have a paid registration it would be handy to have in a folder somewhere outside of FS a copy of fsuipc.key located in your FS\modules folder. It contains application self registration keys plus a paid user information section including that user purchased key. It also is a good idea to also copy outside of FS the fsuipc.ini files which can provide a copy of your fsuipc custom settings should the current one get corrupted. That way you can paste in your custom controller axis settings, button macros, etc., from the safe copy.

Is it free to update to the 3.997, mine is 3.9.8.0
